From Elvis Guevara - Mixing Pop And Politics:
âA very serious anti fascist Indie-band from Arkansas. The singer was even in Charlottesville. 'She's in Love with a Fascist.'â
âHigh Lonesome's second album "It's Midnight, I'm Not Famous Yet" kicks off with "Ain't Seen The Sun", a melodic rocker that puts the listener on notice of the changes between this and 2014's "Get Some Young". Gone is the dreamlike moodiness; a clean, but hard-edged raw guitar sound has taken its place. This may be a reflection of the current political divisiveness and angst roiling the country, finding its clearest and most direct expression in songs like "She's In Love With A Fascist" and "Meno & Me". However, this is not to reduce the album to solely a political statement. High Lonesome hasn't lost their self-effacing sense of humor, which shines through in "I'm A Good Looking Man" and the closing title track, whose lyrics reprise themes explored in earlier tracks, and brings the album to a close in a rauccous, tongue-in-cheek style.â

The band is planning an album release party for their new 10-track record,
Fayetteville Flyerâs most recent interview with Martinâs arrogant, provocative ass. â...if Iâm in a bar with a jukebox, I always play âF*ck Tha Police.â Or say, in Charlottesville last August, through my ghetto blaster I played a recitation of the Koran at full volume in the faces of all the Oathkeepers protecting the right to be a Nazi in public. I also played âF*ck Tha Police...My favorite song right now is âAmarillo By Morningâ by George Straight.âÂ
It's Midnight, I'm Not Famous Yet is the newest album from High Lonesome . Band members say they have developed their sound more since their previous
We were honored to be back in the Fermin-Garner Performance Studio with  Antoinette Grajeda. ÂĄMany thanks to Antoinette for having us on! We thank as well our entire KUAF family, for their love and support over the years; and our namer of namesakes, the late Barry Hannah.Â
Ms. Grajeda was kind enough to let us ramble unimpressive about our third album in four years, Itâs Midnight, Iâm Not Famous Yet. We also got to play a few tunes off the new record, including âV.â, âAinât Seen The Sun,â and the albumâs title track.Â

"Layered and sometimes complex, with meandering guitars dancing around bouncing bass, and timely drums. Melodic and memorable, with baritone vocals singing lyrics that range from heartfelt to irreverent. Fayetteville-based band High Lonesome are finding their place among the most unique and talented bands in the Fayetteville Led by former Memphis Pencils frontman Martin Bemberg, the band is barely a year old, but has already put out its second collection of songs with their recently released full-length album, Get Some Young." Review from NOW THIS SOUND
Late Night Listening: High Lonesome, Sloppy Gospel BYÂ JENNIFERÂ
AUGUST 26, 2013
When I created the Late Night Listening category, it was intended to be â for lack of a better metaphor â my own personal 120 Minutes file: a home for things that might be fleeting, might be soothing, might be weird, might be soothing and weird. The blogging equivalent of sitting in the garage twiddling radio knobs just to see what might be out there.
The latest entry into this file is Sloppy Gospel, from High Lonesome Ark, a band which popped into existence last week and is the latest project of Martin Bemberg (Memphis Pencils), along with Dick Darden (drums), Sean Johnson (rockinâ rhythm) and Cody Troglin (dreamy lead, pizza)
Or as they further expanded on it: Nasty Marty Bemberg is bass and baritone, Cody Pizzaboy Trogdog the reverie on strings, while SeanJohn Hard Like A Johnson just rocks all six real hard, and Slick Dick Darden straight up brings it on the pounders.
At present they have turned six songs loose upon the world. I am going to share two:
First, the title track, Sloppy Gospel, because it was not at all what I was expecting, but I wasnât mad about that, and, also, it persuaded me to jump the rest of the way down the rabbit hole and see what was at the bottom.
