Spider Bedtime Story

Gender neutral Guardian x Spider | sfw | fluff

Not many Guardians have come to see Spider lately. They’re all in the Dreaming City or other parts of the system. When he hears about Gambit Prime he grunts dismissively, but suddenly everything just seems too…quiet. He doesn’t like it.

Spider misses the time when the Tangled Shore had just opened up and he was popular. If people do come to see him now they just want shards and alkane dust to level their Gambit Prime gear and then they leave.

One Guardian keeps coming, though. They do all their bounties every day, and hunt down all the wanted criminals that Spider has a price on. There are no snakes on this Guardian’s gear, only plain armour and weapons.

“Thought you’d be in that Gambit Prime I keep hearing about,” growls the Spider one day with a bored flick of a claw, but an inquisitive gleam in his eyes. 

The Guardian shrugs. “It’s too intense for me in there. All that shouting. The scrambling for motes. I like it here, where it’s quiet. Got any data lattice today?”

The Spider sells them the data lattice and pays them for their bounties. He does it day after day, and the Guardian never says much or looks any different. They’re a very handsome Guardian, and it doesn’t seem right that his Guardian–because Spider thinks of them as his Guardian now–doesn’t look beautifully armoured with fancy weapons, too. 

“The other Guardians,” Spider growls one day. “They’ve got all this flashy new gear, don’t they? From the Drifter.”
