I like to think of this AU idea with Panchito as part of the 201 Fighter Squadron (Mexican Expeditionary Air Force), the “Aztec Eagles,” and the way that actually fits into WWII history in a way that feels way too perfect to ignore, especially with the historical context and well obviously he was the mascot for the Air Force which is where this idea stems from.

The unit itself comes out of Mexico’s involvement in World War II aviation, where selected pilots from the national air service were sent into Allied training programs in the United States, then organized into a single expeditionary fighter squadron. So the idea is just placing Panchito inside that framework as an aviator. He’s one of the pilots selected from Mexico’s air service, trained under U.S. command, and assigned into the 201st prior to deployment. His presence is defined through assignment into a formal squadron structure rather than anything isolated or external to it…

In terms of role, he would function as a combat pilot within a standard Allied fighter squadron environment, operating within formation based aerial tactics and coordinated mission planning typical of the period. The setting itself is very procedural in nature, with operations centered around escort missions, ground support, and coordinated strikes in the Pacific theater during the final stages of the war.

And his motivation sits in that same space too duty, responsibility, and national service-as the patriotic rooster he is! Understood as being part of a formal expeditionary contribution to the Allied effort.
