Violet Alexander

“Hi, hi, hi!” Veronica exclaimed as she pushed open the door to the cafe. “Sorry, sorry– I got bogged down at work and lost track of time!”

If anyone gave the pair of women sitting at the front window of the cafe half a glass, one might think Veronica was Violet’s assistant. Her friend looked out of place in the litter eatery– too polished and high class for a restaurant where half the staff was running around in jeans and t-shirts. Veronica fit the vibe a bit more– business casual, dressed for work and clearly on her lunch break.

It was lucky for her Violet was a good sport about meeting her for lunch here once a week.

“How was the gallery opening?” Veronica asked, pulling off her jacket as she sank into the chair opposite her friend. She hoped she hadn’t started out with a sore subject– Violet had told her that Will Stark was planning to take her to a gallery opening in the city, but Vee knew about Will’s penchant for cancelling last minute. While Vee would love to attend gallery opening and all of the opulent parties, she didn’t think she’d put up with being treated the way Will seemed to treat Violet at times.

“Hmm? Oh, yes. I didn’t end up going. Thought I would stand him up for a change,” She laughed, as though it was just a game they played and not a bitter disappointment every time Will called to cancel -- if he bothered to call at all. “I think it may have been a waste of time, anyway. Father was not impressed. Honestly, I think you may have seen a more splendid display from those crayon pieces. But perhaps you and I might judge for ourselves? We could stop in this weekend and if we are not pleasantly surprised, we can laugh about it later.”

As much as Violet enjoyed spending time with Will, she would be the first to admit that she did like it best when she was with Veronica and the ability to expose her to art (for better or worse) was one of her life’s greatest pleasures. When Veronica was happy, so was Violet.

Violet fidgeted in her chair, trying to locate the waiter she thought she had flagged down a moment ago. “Ugh, sometimes the service here is god awful. I do wish you had time enough for us to meet at The Tasting Room every now and again.”

hello will is also a lot!!!

will is def of the mindset that god is fake, love is fake, good is fake and he’s like why!!! would!!! i spend eternity!!! with one person!!!!  being 700+ years old, he does also have a better sense of what eternity is like and i think he’s decided that the only thing to do is just have fun w it bc otherwise he just feels empty af and his idea of fun is…really weird tbqh idk how to tell you this but he’s lex porter meets dezod meets…idek what but he’s like ‘i choose chaos’ and just likes watching the world burn a lot smdh

he’s also a collector in the personality sense as well as the literal sense – he collects beautiful faces, moments, objects, etc, bc again he’s just out here fighting his own emptiness tooth and claw and obv he does think that as a vampire she’s superior to, well, anything that’s ~not (will re: violet a couple months ago: ‘who?’ vs will re: violet now: ‘whoo!’) plus he’s got that delusional god complex thing which makes him lskajflksdjfakjsf well the worst tbqh but bc of it he feels like he deserves anything he wants…and to discard anything that isn’t making him feel whatever he’s looking to feel in the moment anymore!!

i do think violet has a lot of the vampire aristocratic qualities that he thinks work well to show her off on his arm, plus she’s beautiful and i think he knows she’s super into him and that’s def an ego boost he enjoys, but at the same time i think he’s aware on some level that she wants more from him than he’s willing to give and that feels a little suffocating and he’s not into it so he’s ready to drop her whenever he’s not enjoying the rest of it, but he also likes the idea of being missed and cared about and likes knowing that he can discard her and then she’ll come running back at a crook of his finger so!!!!!! def a healthy relationship happening here!!!!! laksjflkjsfkj

i do think he does get kinda frustrated w her mindset sometimes tho but he also is v aware that she’s a baby vamp yknow and i think he lowkey believes she’ll grow out of it – and def thinks she’ll grow out of whatever she’s thinking about him bc his delusional god complex vs his rampid self loathing is always out there doing its thing <3 plus he thinks that she’s still approaching eternity w her old human pov and she won’t want those same things as she gets older and it really sinks in what eternity w one person would be…of course that probs has as much to do w his own cynical attitude as anything but here we are alksdjfkljsdf

but atm he’s having fun and she’s not being ~too pushy about things in his opinion so he’s happy to keep things going alkjsfklsjf he def does manipulate her a bit too at times but he thinks its fair bc he’s old enough he probs knows from experience that she’s manipulating him too laskdjflkjsdf

I also don’t think that Violet quite understands what a real relationship/marriage even looks like because her mom and dad are examples number one??? And tbh none of the Alexanders have had a functional romantic relationship, so here we are ;DDD

I do think she sees it more as a status symbol, than anything else. She know she looks good on Will’s arm and he damn well looks good on her’s, too, and I think she does have this idealized version of what their life would be like, if they stayed together. I do think she knows what she doesn’t want – having seen her parents. As much as she wants to be like her dad, she doesn’t want the constant fighting that they were going through – but she does think that the key to get that is through manipulation ????? Like if she can find a way to get Will to blindly do what she wants, w/o him realizing it, than that’s pretty much the dream!!!!

And yeah, while I think she thinks she’s being subtle about it, someone like Will who has lived 700+ years will probably definitely pick up on it pretty quickly and can see what she is trying to do!! I think Violet feels like she holds some power in this relationship, but lbr Will holds all the cards and I think they both probably know that any threats she would make like “if you do that, we are done!” are hollow b/c violet would keep coming back – once she decides she wants something, she’s determined to get it!!!!

I also think that papa alexander really likes and has a lot of respect for Will and I think that that’s another motivator when it comes to trying to be with him is that i think her dad was actually proud when she brought Will around and I’m sure whenever Will decides he’s done with her, it will be another ~failure her dad will throw in her face. hooray!!!

honestly!!!! i think he’d weirdly respect that being her reason for wanting to be with him????  like, to him that’s a perfectly logical reason to enter into a relationship lkasjdfkjldsf and i think there’s an element of that for him too – she’s got the right connections to make her a suitable ~connection for him, too yknow?  but i also think he’s 100% free of the idealized vision of their future!! but he also idealizes nothing asp and, in fact, is probs overly cynical if anything…and the approval of her dad is smth he doesn’t give a flying fig about hahaha  i also don’t think he’d actually mind her trying to manipulate him so much?  like???? he kinda expects that that’s just a feature of any interaction you’re ever gonna have so like of course????? she’s manipulating him???? ldsjkfakljdf but he also is then like ‘wow im so neat i saw right through that’ which like…good job you’re 700 years old and she just graduated college alskdjfklsjdf but here we are

tbh!!! since he’s a jerk, he’d 100% call her bluff on that one just to show her that he’s got the power if she ever pulled that bc #assholery and bc its important to him that no one think they can ever control him in any way skjflsjfdsf the alexanders aren’t the only ones with authority issues what can i say alsjdfkjsdf so he’d be like ‘then we’re done, sweetheart,’ and instantly do that thing alsjdfkljdf honestly tho??? i think her flirting w someone else is like the one thing that could bring her some power bc he’d be like EXCUSE ME WHAT bc he wants to be the sun in her life and hello????? someone else???? nopE so he’s about to learn to REALLY hate aaron i feel like unless he doesn’t know about her interest there?  hahaha (two kate aa characters having it out for each other?? whaaaaaat??? ;D) but yeah, lets say that violet gets w aaron, for example, will would then make it his mission to break them up and get her to come crawling back…while also trying to make her think that it was all 100% her idea and that will never did anything or cared one whit about it, when actually he got lowkey obsessed and engineered the whole thing…only to get bored of her once she got him back again smdh

oh yeah i def think that the alexander vamps and will are def big cogs in the vampiric political machinations of the area and i feel like there’s def synergy there…but also ngl i feel like there’s a ton of dysfunction and like this weird one upsmanship thing that happens and tbh will often pulls seniority/rank over the younger alexanders and alksdjfkljsdf but at the same time, outside of smth real like gideon, i feel like that’s the closest he gets to having a friend????? idk!!!!  asdlkjfksdjf but yeah he honestly probs views violet’s dad as a baby vamp, essentially, himself bc like…anything under 200 years is a baby as far as he’s concerned aldsjflkdjsf

But omg, it would literally be Violet’s dream to leave Will for Aaron and then have Will obsessively try to get her back hahaha but yeah idk that she would know any of that and I imagine she probably isn’t aware of how jealous he’d be otherwise she’d be flirting with Aaron all the time in front of him laskjflsjf 

sooooo, first off, does violet know aaron’s a woof?  i know that you said werewolves can sense vamps (and werewolves), but can vamps do the same?

Of course, mating with a werewolf is nOT what she had in mind (not to mention, their kids might end up being werewolves and nO????) so the funny thing is, if Aaron spilled his secret to her, she’d leave him 1000% alone and be mortified to be in the same space as him again, b/c it would just serve as a reminder of how stupid she once was. 

Now that she’s an actual vampire, things have changed a bit b/c she can’t have kids, but she’s also going to be seeing if she can dig up a witch that might be able to help on that front and thus she would be the one to still ensure the Alexander line of new vamps continue. In the meantime, she’s not giving up her pursuit of Aaron and she does hope that flirting with him will also make Will jealous!! She also 1000% reads into Aaron’s comments about her being able to do better as him feeling like she should date him instead alfjasldfjsldfj 

“Lucy!” 

The door to Violet’s room had been ajar and she heard her sister’s familiar footsteps as she passed by it. 

“Come sit down for a minute,” She said as Lucy came and stood in her doorway. “Where were you off to today? I missed you this afternoon. I went shopping and could have used the company.” She gestured to the new necklace that hung about her neck.”Do you like it?” she asked. 

Violet was in a particularly good mood because William Stark had called and asked her to go out with him tonight. There was a new gallery opening up in the city and he thought she might like to go. (Violet conveintantly chose to ignore the fact that it was not unlikely that he would cancel, conveniently forget, or simply decide to cut the evening short).

Lucy also felt a touch this way towards her brother, true, but moreso towards Violet.  Violet, after all, was the only one of them who didn’t see their parents as they actually were, the only one who so craved their attention and affection…and therefore, Violet was the most vulnerable to them of the last generation of Alexanders.

Coming inside, Lucy leaned in the doorframe, her brows arched expectantly, refusing to sit for the very simple fact that her sister had told her to, though she suspected this was one of her more foolish rebellions because she felt in her bones that this was likely to become a long and involved ‘chat,’ despite Lucy’s wishes to simply sneak out of the house, undisturbed…or perhaps because of them.

“What?  Can’t a girl hunt in peace?” she lied, casually, with a shrug.  She had not, in fact, been lunching – she’d been spending time with some of her friends, but given that they were not vampires, she didn’t particularly want to explore whatever Violet’s impressions of them might be.

Despite herself, Lucy found herself abandoning the doorway to come inside and further inspect the necklace.  If Lucy were being honest, she had always admired her sister’s style: there was an effortless grace and elegance to the other girl that Lucy had always, always wished to emulate…but had never quite got down.  Nonetheless, she was not about to admit that.  So, looking at the necklace Lucy now wished was her own, she simply shrugged.  “It’s nice,” she said, tone dismissive.  “Though you might have done a little better with emeralds…give your eyes some color.”

“And,” She stopped for a moment, her gaze meeting her sister’s, “as it seems clear that neither you nor Nick are in the habit of making any yourself, you see it falls to me. I imagine Nick is out playing with his dog as we speak.” 

The thought of making Will Stark jealous excited her and she she realized suddenly that she was seriously considering her sister’s suggestion. The trouble being, of course, that she had worked hard to enter into this stage of her relationship with him and there was a part of her that wished she could so easily cancel her plans. If only she knew his own mind well enough to know how he would react? Would he truly be jealous? Or would he decide to move on from her completely? 

What Violet didn’t care to admit (and what she suspected her sister likely knew) was that it hurt her much more deeply than she let on when he canceled their plans or flirted with other girls. She did allow herself to give her sister a soft smile: even Violet knew that this was her sister’s way of looking out for her. It wasn’t something she was used to from most and it was because of this that she didn’t immediately shut down her idea. 

I don’t think she’d try to sabotage the relationship or anything (she doesn’t wanna risk loosing Veronica as a friend), but I do think it’s clear (especially when Veronica isn’t around) that Violet isn’t a fan of Sophie’s and she’s definitely always really passive-aggressive towards her like “Aww, I love how you will just wear anything.”
