Created with layers of video stills from my VJ clip library in collage with assorted visuals related to future visions, 5d realities, shadow planes, cyborgs, cyberpunk,  and transhumanism. 

Each Summer I usually revisit old friends in (& favored) texts, books, and series. I've been occupying myself with William Gibson, Eva, Darling in the Franxx, GITS, and Psycho Pass + Barthes, Debord, and Baudrillard. I find myself thinking about future visions and a world where automation means freedom; where a post human would be without gender binaries; and the ways in which we fear technological advancement when we should fear government harnessing. I've been musing over internet culture, early iRC chat rooms, technofeminism, simulations, spectacle, megacities, multiverses, frequencies, and realities. 

SCFE + epiphany, 2019, 5:49m, video installation

For #SYMPTOMATIC I have two pieces. Both are specific to a childhood medical trauma I experienced. False-negative XRAY tumbling forward into an acutely fracturing unstable #SCFE (Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis); or, skiffy for short. Emergent surgery; stunting growth; ailments to follow; chronic pain; uncertain futures. A body betraying its inhabiting mind. The day before, unable to participate in a 5th Grade Last Day Jubilee - sitting on a hill and watching the clouds roll by. Hurting. From break to ambulance, to initial prodding and poking to XRAY machine, to waiting morphine dripping a doctor hushedly warning a mother of severe(d) potential; heard, in delirium muscles spasming, blood unable to reach that limb. Carted to the OR - faces always above looking down, ceiling tiles painted (shittily). A body that could not move a lack of autonomy at a time when finding your voice is so painfully awkward. Going under then coming up to bed-bound and staring upward. Recovering in a curse-d farm house, likely haunted, disturbed, unsettled. & staring up at the ceiling. Comforted only by the escapism offered from video games, anime, and a persona within an early net mIRC chat server. A summer wheelchair bound, a 6th grade to follow; a scar that never healed quite right; pins creak/ache; pains that I am still too young to give airtime & fall to radio silence. Follow-ups, pt, and hundreds of XRAYS. [Will it affect the repro.organs?] [11yr old me wonders what those are]. A settlement of medical malpractice that sounds nice in theory but by the time that college money was supposed to be used it was lost in the debacle of the crash. There are others who have it worse and I should not complain. It is, what it is. Well...I’m still hurting.

One video will greet you as you enter the waiting room as a mock office’s aquarium, one might expect to see in such a place. Sourcing from the things and obsessions that my younger self took comfort in my work for this exhibition seeks to address the anxiety around medical settings and my deep mistrust of them.

Summer Games May, 2018 11″ x 17″ 

This was a fun project where I created the poster art for H A U N T E R and Pink Navel’s summer tour. I wanted to post the textless version as I am still very happy with the final result. I collaborated with these two musicians, sourcing their aesthetics and fandoms. These two opened their tour with the party I co-founded with DOHMA and AlexXxan, AEther - I even created some special clips for VJing for their tour open and my party’s debut!
