A Certain Magical Pokedex

Articuno, the Freeze Pokemon.

One of the three Legendary birds of Kanto, along with Zapdos, and Moltres.

Articuno is an Ice/Flying-type, with a power set of defenses.

It is said that a flap of its wings can chill the air enough to cause blizzards, and that it appears to doomed travelers lost in the mountains.

What would one find in Articuno, if you were to look to her for strength?

Articuno is the physical embodiment of ice and snow and winter, so when all others fail, she still is able to remain serene and calm. If you need support in being calm and collected, able to withstand life's many unsets, Articuno can offer you that strength.

She often appears before those who would otherwise be doomed to remain lost in the darkness and the cold. If you are one of the doomed and the damned, she can help you, and offer you guidance and safe passage through the storms in life.

If you wish to be beautiful and graceful in your life and movements, Articuno can help. She is said to be made of pure ice, with a tail and feathers of the utmost beauty.

How would one incorporate Articuno’s teachings into your life?

When life seems like an endless whirlwind of confusion and darkness, try to remain calm. Stay collected and continue to push through the storm, until you make it out on the other side.

When others seem lost, or feel doomed to fail before they begin, offer them your help and guidance when possible. Be caring and helpful towards others, and help them weather the storms of life and be greater and more beautiful people for it.

When you look in the mirror, and think yourself ugly, remember that you’re not. Remember to appreciate your beauty, inside and out, as Articuno would. Do what makes you feel beautiful and amazing, and never stop. Articuno can see your beauty. All of it.

While a silent creature, Articuno still offers much guidance and wisdom to those who look to her for the strength to be the beautiful person they are. Through the storms in life, and when one feels doomed, she can help carry those who need it most, helping them survive and make it out on the other side. Never think that you are alone, because you never are with Articuno in your life. She guides the damned, and calms the storms that rage inside you.

Mega Evolution; it is a transformation a Pokemon can go through to gain immense strength by drawing on the power of their bond with their trainer. Mega Evolution can only be achieved by certain species of Pokemon, when both it and the trainer have possession of its species-specific Mega Stone, and a Key Stone, respectively.

It is said that the first Pokemon to Mega Evolve were a Lucario, and Rayquaza himself.

Long ago, a Lucario and it’s trainer garnered such a close bond that they were able to achieve this transformation.

Rayquaza could perform this feat itself, and did so when it needed to resolve the growing issues between Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre in ancient times.

Mega Evolution, at it’s core, is an exercise in sharing your strength with your partner Pokemon, to allow them to surpass their limits and gain access to greater strength in a form they otherwise would be unable to reach.

This can be easily applied when one is working with a Pokemon spirit.

If you were to encounter a Pokemon spirit, and develop a close bond with it, you could potentially share your own energy with it, to allow it to gain its Mega Evolution form, if a additional strength ever arose; To defend you from something else, for example.

One could use a pair of stones as substitutes for a Key Stone and Mega Stone, if you so desired, but they would not be necessary, if you're bond and ability to share your energies was developed enough.

Eevee, the Evolution Pokemon.

Eevee is a Normal-type Pokemon, with average strength in all areas.

Due to it’s unusual and unstable genetic makeup, it can rapidly adapt to its surroundings, causing it to evolve into a total of eight different Pokemon, depending on exposure to different stimuli.

What would one find in an Eevee, if one were to bring it into your life?

Eevee are naturally able to adapt to changing conditions, it is the one thing they excel at over any other Pokemon. So, helping you to be able to adapt to change in your own life would be something an Eevee could help with.

With the ability Adaptability, Eevee is the master of playing to it’s own strengths, increasing the power of moves that share it’s typing, more so than other Pokemon would be able to. With an Eevee at your side, you could better play to your own strengths as well. Focus on what you know you’re good at, and an Eevee would be sure to boost your strengths.

With the ability Run Away, Eevee is great at escaping from dangerous situations, situations that other Pokemon would have to stand and face, prepared or not. With an Eevee at your side, you could find yourself more easily able to dodge those that might cause you harm or stress, and help you back away from things you’re not ready for, so you can prepare and try them again.

With the ability Anticipation, Eevee excels in being alert, and paying attention to those that stand before it, somehow able to know when something big is coming, or when something has the will or ability to do them harm. With an Eevee at your side, you could be more attentive to your surrounds and the people you encounter, so that you might be able to get a feeling for those with ill will.

Eevee’s signature move is Last Resort; A Move only usable after it has tried everything else it knows.

With this, it seems that Eevee’s greatest strength is its adaptability. After it has tried everything it knows, it can use Last Resort, and finish off it’s opponent with the Move’s great power. When one reaches their limit, exhausted of options, you can feel weaker, and unable to see the path to victory. Eevee, on the other hand, excels when backed into a corner, and is stronger for it.

With the power of Last Resort, one can stand firm and strong when they’ve tried and tried and they’re out of options. Just because what you’ve tried hasn’t allowed you to succeed doesn't mean you lack the strength to do it. Adapt, prepare, and move forward with the strength of an Eevee.

Drawing on the power of their bond with a trainer, through the power of an Eevium Z, Eevee is able to access a special move, specific to its species; that being Extreme Evoboost.

With Extreme Evoboost, Eevee draws strength from its friends and potential to drastically boost its strength across the board.

With the power of Extreme Evoboost, one could draw strength from their friends and family, and their potential as a person to help boost them and push them forward, succeeding when times are hard and moving towards greatness. Bonding with others and using that bond to help all involved excel is a great way to incorporate the power of Extreme Evoboost into your life, because that where an Eevee gathers its strength from with this move; its friends, family, and bond with its trainer.

Evolutionary Stones; A rare, stone-like item that radiates a strange energy which causes some Pokemon to evolve when they come into contact with it.

Evolutionary stones allow the user to trigger the evolution of the receipt Pokemon, often causing drastic changes in physcology and their ability to learn moves. The changes can vary from an extension of the elemental powers the Pokemon already possesses, to a complete change in genetic make-up.

Although they range in shape, coloration, and Pokemon that respond to them, they all are effectively the same; concentrated, crystalline forms of powerful elemental energy.

How can one apply this knowledge to one’s interaction with a Pokemon spirit?

If you wish to help a Pokemon evolve, and they would require the use of an Evolutionary Stone to do so, then you can go out and make one for them yourself. What would be required would be for you to collect a large amount of powerful, elemental energy in a condensed space, in a stone, or otherwise, and present it to them.

For example, if one wished to help an Eevee evolve into a Jolteon, then one would require the use of a Thunderstone. To create one, you would need to collect energy from thunder, lightning, and electrical energy, from something even as simple as your household appliances.

You could collect it in a receptive stone, and make a Thunderstone proper, or some other medium, even including one’s own body.

Once prepared, offering it to the Pokemon and allowing it to consume the energy would in theory, trigger their evolution and allow them to change into a Jolteon.

A similar process can be extrapolated to produce stones of the other varieties;

The energy of elemental fire for a Fire Stone.

The energy of elemental water for a Water Stone.

The energy of plants and nature for a Leaf Stone.

The energy of the Moon for a Moon Stone.

The energy of the Sun for a Sun Stone.

The energy of brightness and light for a Shiny Stone.

The energy of darkness and shadows for a Dusk Stone.

The energy of new beginnings and perceptions for a Dawn Stone.

The energy of the cold and snow for an Ice Stone.

Admittedly, some may be harder to come by than others, but with some ingenuity, one can accomplish the creation of their desired stone.

Regigigas, the Colossal Pokemon.

The Master of the Hoenn Legendary Titans; Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.

Regigigas is a Normal-type, with immense physical strength.

It is said that he created the three Hoenn titans in his own image from a special ice mountain, rocks, and magma; and that it’s immense strength allowed it to tow the continents with ropes.

He is a beautiful, and amazing Pokemon and God to look to for strength.

What would one find in Regigigas, if one were to look to him for guidance and strength?

You would find the ability to exercise restraint, in spite of the great power you may have inside. The ability to let others be, and let the world turn, even though inside, you may feel the need and the strength to bend the world to your will.

You would find the strength to endure. To endure as the world changes around you, as hard as that may be. To endure hardship and pain, as you try to move through your own life and follow your path. To endure, so that you may move forward through the world, even if all you want to do is sleep.

You would find that even the strongest beings can be slow to get moving. Slow Start cuts his strength in half, but when he’s warmed up, not even mountains can stand in the way of Regigigas.

Working with Regigigas, one can come to see how being slow to start does not mean one is lesser or incapable. On the contrary, a speeding train is hard to stop once it gets going.

Once one is ready, and you find your footing, then you will be better able to accomplish what lies ahead of you. You don’t have to be the fastest, you can just hit the hardest instead.

How can you incorporate what Regigigas teaches into your life?

When the world seems bleak and senseless, and you feel you have no control, instead of lashing out and trying to bend it to your will and strength, try to exercise restraint. You are great, and you are powerful, but what makes you greater is calm and understanding. Stand and listen to the world around you and find your place within it. Let your mind and body be still, like Regigigas.

When times are hard, and you don’t want to keep pushing and fighting, just remember to endure. Things change and change is hard, but just like Regigigas, you can endure and grow stronger for it.

When those around you seem to move a light speed compared to you, do not worry, but instead focus on yourself,  and remember; you might have speed, but you have more than enough strength to break free of your chains and move continents.

Crush Grip is Regigigas’s signature move. With it, he crushes his opponent with his immense strength, growing stronger the stronger his opponent is.

It seems that his greatest strength is, of course, his strength. More so than that, he is empowered by those stronger than him, to crush them even more fiercely than he would be able to otherwise.

With the power of Crush Grip, one can stand against those that are bigger than you, stronger than you, or stand above you in your climb to greatest, and be empowered by their strength, to improve your own.

As the saying goes, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

In Pokemon media, it is repeated shown that Regigigas will gladly sleep, completely enstatued for thousands of years on end, and that waking him is a difficult, and often foolhardy choice to make.

Whether it’s the wrecking of the Distortion World, causing glaciers around his home to crumble, or the assembling of his titans, the task is not an easy one, and the usual result is him attacking you and all your friends.

What does this mean for you as a worshiper?

The Gods and Goddesses of the Pokemon World are broken down into two main categories, Legendary and Mythical.

Most, if not all you will encounter in your journey in game will be of the Legendary variety, while Mythical Pokemon are usually received through events.

I wish to propose a different way to look at them and their hierarchy.

The way I see them are as follows;

There are those that directly embody a force of nature, like Winter, Time, or Tectonic Activity.

Those that embody something more abstract, like Compassion, Determination, and Bright Futures.

And those who don’t quite embody an aspect of life, but are more complex and specific. These are less easily grouped together.

Regardless of Legendary or Mythical status, each falls under one of those categories. Although there are some exceptions, like with every rule.

With each, outside of their specific aspects of life and/or nature, they have other qualities and characteristics that one can look to each for; whether that be guidance when one is lost, the ability to endure in the face of hardship, change, and pain, or the willingness to be yourself in spite of the judgement of others.

In the Pokemon World, there a creatures of myth and legend whose strength and power are comparable to nature itself. These are, of course, the rare and powerful, Legendary Pokemon, and even more rare, Mythical Pokemon.

The difference one must notice though, to truly understand these Pokemon, and the Pokemon World as a whole, is that they are not mere moral creatures, or simply trophies for one to collect and look at, or show off to others as a symbol of status.

Instead, they are the forces of nature given flesh form. Some more so than others, but each is owed the reverence and respect of their great power.

To think of them as anything less than Gods and Goddesses would be an insult.

Let me explain,

Most Legendary Pokemon embody an aspect(s) of nature itself, rivaling that of any normal Pokemon's command over that type.

Articuno for example, while an Ice-type, just as a number of other pokemon, Articuno is the physical embodiment of Winter, of ice and snow. Her mere presence often causes it to snow around her. Her classification as an Ice-type, while true, does not quite depict how deep her connection to the element goes.

Another example, Dialga, it is the God of Time. Not only does it control time itself, but it is the physical embodiment of it. It is said the time flows as Dialga’s heart beats, and it can move through time like we can walk on the earth beneath our feet.

If you think about it, these integral forces of nature are not just abstract concepts in the Pokemon world, but physical creatures that inhabit it.
