"They look like movie stars don't they?" Trucy adds cheerily, "Our heroine, with her two faithful companions, flying through the skies in the pursuit of justice!" A rain of confetti follows her announcement.
Athena futilely tries to comb the bits of paper out of her hair. "Why didn't we get to shoot in the courtroom? And why is Simon wearing shackles?" She pauses. "You think he's into that sort of thing?"

It's Nicole who brings the request to Kay. She brings up the subject over lunch at Eldoon's, and doesn't push.

She think it's cute howĀ Steel Samurai can get him so absorbed. But he's watched this episode before, so she doesn't feel too guilty when she mutes it to get their attention.
Initially, Simon is against the whole venture. Our duty is, first and foremost, to serve the public. It is not in our interest to chase applause and acclaim. That way lies madness.Ā

A memory, unbidden, comes to Kay's mind then. She says, slowly, Prof Courte used to claim, the integrity of prosecutor lies in how he or she answers the following question: āWhen you exercise discretion, are you more concerned with fairness, the likelihood of conviction, or political considerations?āĀ
Both of them look struck at the mention - all of them had fond memories of Prof Courte.Ā
I always had difficulty with the question, Simon confesses. From him, it's as good as a yes.
(Miles has his reservations. He had always considered the press a profit-driven institution - never in the interest of the common good. But despite achieving professional success, he can't help but wonder. Could this Dark Age mess have been avoided if he had been willing to engage in public debate? Well. What's done is done.
Besides, he has faith in his subordinates.)
