Princely Heron

     “I never said it bothered me.” Sometimes it was a bit relaxing in a way, even if the feelings coming from the other weren’t pleasant all the time. “Besides, you can only do that for so long. You know it’s better to talk about these things.”

     A quiet snort left him this time, entertained by the other’s choice of words. He wasn’t wrong, in any case. “At least had it come to you needing a translator, me or Rafiel could have helped.” He would have included Leanne, but she was still getting the hang of speaking the modern language. Given how long it’d taken him, she was doing well. Hearing the last statement, his blinked a little. “I can say the same for you. If you hadn’t come to mine and my father’s rescue we never would have survived. And who knows if Leanne ever would’ve been found. I owe you a lot. The least I can do is be a good friend.”

     “I’m sure it is.” And he could be very opinionated given the situation. Letting the King go on, a soft huff left him. “Yes well I could hardly speak anything other than the ancient tongue as well. Now look at me.” That and he hardly ever wanted to leave Tibarn’s side since he was one of the only ones who could understand him when he spoke. Still, remembering how he used to be compared to now, it certainly was one of the biggest changes about him. Yet it was rare he regretted such a change.

     Hearing the other, the Heron gave a glance over, before a soft, but amused noise left him. “I would say ‘so do I’, but that would be a lie. Still, I rather prefer it this way, don’t you?” Maybe not when he was getting ahead of himself, but in any case him not being afraid to break something here or there had to come in handy at some point.

     “Oh certainly, in fact, if she declines for any reason other than her work, I’d be concerned.” A smile came to his face, shaking his head at the concern. “I’ve only been watching the ones that interested me, so I’m quite alright. I appreciate the concern though.”

     “This is true, but you certainly didn’t pull any punches. Not that I blame you, especially after that insult. And of course not, we made that for you, of course you can keep it.” Hearing the question about Leanne, Reyson couldn’t help, but chuckle. “If you can pull her away from working, then you have my blessing. She needs a break, that’s be the perfect excuse.”

     “Well, you certainly would have won that one without a favour at least.”

     There’s a knowing smile on his lips, he could tell the other liked the favour even if he wasn’t showing it. “Oh yes, but at least it’s all been going smoothly so far.” Chuckling, he gave a nod. “Oh I know you will, I never doubted that. Even if you don’t make it to the final round you’ll still have given it your all, that’s all that matters in the end, yes?”

     A laugh left the Heron. “Alright, alright, you got me.” Reaching into his pocket, a bracelet was pulled out and offered. “Leanne was too busy with other things, but she and I put this together for you.” A closer inspection of the jewelry would reveal small charms shaped like Ravens and Herons in a pattern, with simple black beads between each one.

     Hearing the Cleric, a smile came to his face. “Oh, thank you Mist. You know you didn’t have to.” Still, not wanting to be rude he took the gift she held out to him. Opening it up, he couldn’t help the chuckle that left him once he saw what it was. Picking the doll up, he looked it over a moment before another smile came to his face. “This is cute, I do like it. Thank you again.”

     Seeing his older sister approach with the flower crown, he stayed put while she placed it on his head, chuckling some. “Thank you, Lillia.” Watching as the gifts were brought over to him, he couldn’t help but tease. “Well if I wasn’t before, I am now.” He doubted they’d let him wave anything off, so he was glad he hadn’t made any plans for today. Though, maybe they helped keep the day clear. The Prince was fairly bad at remembering his birthday, but of course he remembered everyone else’s.

     Blinking when he heard the Raven, he caught the box as it was tossed to him. Running his fingers over it a moment, after he was done looking it over he opened it up. Seeing the gloves, an amused smile came to his lips. Of course he remembered the time he mentioned wanting them, but he was surprised Naesala remembered. “Thank you, they’re perfect.”
