In the last article, I talked about the difference between stage magic and supernatural magic. Stage magic uses tricks and illusions, while supernatural magic deals with the mind, energy, and spiritual forces. Today, we are going deeper into one of the oldest debates in occult history. What exactly is white magic, what is black magic, and who decides which is which?

Supernatural magic relies on the focused power of the mind and the ability to influence energy. Herbs, gestures, rituals, amulets, and the classic wand are tools that help direct that energy. This type of magic has always been surrounded by questions and arguments about how it should be used. Over time, people began calling it white magic or black magic, turning it into a moral conversation rather than a technical one.

From the perspective of a person who does not practice magic, white magic is usually connected to God, angels, and any positive spiritual force. Black magic is often associated with devils, demons, or anything dangerous and forbidden. These ideas are common even today. But when you ask actual practitioners from different paths, you will get many different answers. Some occultists do not use these labels at all because from a magical point of view, magic itself is not divided into good or evil. It is neutral. The practitioner gives it meaning through intention and action.

A simple way to explain this is to imagine a knife. A knife can be used to cook and feed a family. The same knife can be used to harm someone. The tool is the same in both situations. What changes is the intention of the person holding it. Magic works the same way. It is a force that follows universal laws, whether or not the magician understands those laws. These laws do not change based on a practitioner’s beliefs or tradition. The magician’s maturity, morality, and purpose decide what the work becomes.

Some types of magic seem naturally positive because they involve healing, protection, or blessing. Other types seem darker because they involve curses, manipulation, or control. These categories exist not because magic itself is good or evil, but because of the forces and entities involved. Working with angels and benevolent beings often leads to uplifting results. Working with demons may give power or results, but usually with consequences or an exchange. Every magician chooses the spirits they trust and the path they feel drawn to.

An advanced magician or adept, someone who has reached a higher level of consciousness, sees things differently. Instead of dividing everything into light and dark, they understand and master both. This does not mean they use magic irresponsibly. It means they are no longer controlled by fear or desire. All spirits respect an adept because of their inner authority, not because of a specific alliance. Of course, not all magicians want to reach this level. Some prefer to focus only on one side, and that choice is valid for them.

At the end of the day, magic is a discipline that must be taken seriously. It is not something to experiment with carelessly. A single mistake can have real consequences, including psychological and karmic effects. History has shown that people who dive into magic without training or grounding can put themselves in danger. But when practiced properly, magic is powerful, meaningful, and transformative. Even if non practitioners think it is all in your mind, there is truth in that. The world we experience is shaped by our consciousness. If our mind can create limits, it can also open doors.

Magic is not simply white or black. It is a mirror. It amplifies who we already are. That is why the most important part of any magical path is not the spell or the spirit. It is the person using the power.

Magic has always been one of those topics people understand in completely different ways. Some think of stage shows with card tricks and illusions. Others think of something supernatural that science has not figured out yet. Throughout history, magic has been admired when it is useful and feared when it is mysterious or hard to control. Whatever people believe, one thing is clear. Magic never truly disappears. It simply changes form depending on who is looking at it.

When talking about real magic, it helps to make a clear difference between performance magic and spiritual or paranormal magic. Performance magic is what we see in shows. It is all about skill, timing, and clever illusions. The performer uses tools and techniques to trick the mind into seeing something impossible. Nothing spiritual is happening. It is all entertainment, and it is the most widely accepted type of magic today.

The second kind is spiritual or supernatural magic. This is the kind that religions, myths, and magical traditions talk about. Some call it miracles. Others call it witchcraft. This type of magic has always been hidden for practical reasons. First, it can be dangerous for people with no training. Second, society does not always welcome these practices, so many practitioners stay silent to avoid ridicule or persecution. Third, many traditions require a vow of silence, because sacred knowledge is meant to be respected and protected.

I'm going to discuss the second type. The magick that deals with the unseen.

Supernatural magic depends a lot on the world view of the practitioner. Some magicians may chant a spell and get results, but they might not fully understand why it worked. Others who have trained longer and studied deeper may understand the universal laws, the subtle planes of existence, and the psychology behind these experiences. For many experienced practitioners, magic is not simply magic. It is a blend of spiritual, psychological, and even scientific principles. It only appears mysterious because our current technology cannot measure everything that exists.

A lot of things we consider normal today would have been called magic a few centuries ago. Flying metal machines, voice messages traveling through air, and doctors using light to see inside the human body would have been unbelievable in older times. Magick works in a similar way. It looks impossible only because we do not have the tools to fully understand it yet.

Modern science still cannot detect other dimensions or measure every part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Many things remain invisible to us simply because we lack the equipment to observe them. What we cannot perceive, we cannot study. This is why most occult practices look strange or unbelievable to outsiders. It is not always because they are fake. Sometimes we just do not have the right instruments.

To non practitioners, occult magic may look dangerous, delusional, or ridiculous. And for some people, it can be dangerous. But the same can be said for many activities or professions when they are misused. The truth is that real magical practice takes discipline, maturity, and self awareness. It is not a game for thrill seekers.

Magicians are not all the same, and their understanding of magic varies. But one thing should stay constant.

Ethics.

No matter what you practice, being a decent human being matters more than any spell or ritual. Magick amplifies whatever is already inside a person, just like money does. If someone is compassionate, magic strengthens that compassion. If someone is selfish or cruel, magic only makes it worse.

So if you choose to walk the magical path, be responsible. Be grounded. Do not treat it like a weapon to harm others for your pleasure. Otherwise, life has a way of delivering consequences that are far more painful than anything in fiction. Even Lord Voldemort had to face his own karmic bill.

Hi everyone! I want to share some tips for those starting out in magic or the occult. These are based on my personal experiences, so take what resonates and leave what doesn’t. Remember, practicing magic isn’t just about wonder and mystery—it also requires self-awareness and maturity.

1. Work on your body, emotions, and mind first.

A lot of beginners dive into magic driven by emotions like curiosity or the desire to gain powers. While that excitement is normal, it can also lead to burnout or even danger. When I started my Hermetic journey, I had to focus on building a strong foundation, like taking care of my body, managing my emotions, and understanding my mind. This meant observing my thoughts, dealing with my triggers, and staying aware of my biases. I also worked on being physically healthier (though I’m not saying you need to exercise every day or become vegetarian!). The point is: if you’re not taking care of yourself, both physically and mentally, it could affect your spiritual life too.

2. Explore the occult in your own culture.

When I started practicing, I focused on Western occultism, even though I’m not from the West. Over time, I realized how important it is to learn about the spiritual and magical traditions of your own culture. For me, this was tricky because a lot of knowledge here is passed down orally or kept within families. But I eventually learned that some local astral beings were influencing my life—for better or worse. This might not apply to everyone, but if your culture has magical practices, it’s worth looking into. Then again, I'm not saying that you should agree with them or practice them.

3. Balance emotion with logic.

It’s easy to get caught up in the emotional side of magic, but it’s important to learn objectively too. You’ll probably come across ideas or beliefs you don’t agree with, but that doesn’t mean they’re useless. Understanding different perspectives can help you grow as a practitioner—even if you don’t adopt those practices yourself.

4. Stay grounded.

It’s great to be passionate about magic, but don’t lose touch with the real world. Some people become so obsessed with the occult that they develop unhealthy habits or mental instability. This can even create unwanted energy forms (phantoms) that drain you over time. Remember, you’re still human. Take care of yourself and stay connected to the world around you.

5. Knowledge doesn’t make you better than others.

Having occult knowledge or abilities doesn’t mean you’re superior or more “enlightened” than anyone else. Unfortunately, I’ve met a few practitioners who became entitled or toxic—basically like spiritual snobs. Don’t fall into that trap. Use your skills wisely and responsibly. Avoid harming others unless absolutely necessary (e.g. protection or defense), and don’t let anyone take advantage of your kindness either.

6. Know what you’re working toward.

Having clear goals can help you stay focused. It’s fine to experiment and explore, but don’t try to master everything at once—it’s a recipe for burnout. Take things one step at a time, and be patient with yourself.

7. Reflect on your practice.

Check in with yourself regularly. Sometimes we get so attached to our practices or beliefs that we forget to question them. Ask yourself: How is this affecting my life? Is it helping me grow? Am I holding onto ideas that no longer serve me? Magic is a journey, and there’s always more to learn.

Practicing magic is a lifelong process—it’s not easy, and it’s not for the faint-hearted. You’ll face challenges, but the rewards are worth it if you stick with it. At the end of the day, the goal is to transform yourself and your life. Take what resonates from these tips, and feel free to leave the rest.

Understanding Moksha, Nirvana, and Maya: Clearing Misconceptions

There’s a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to concepts like moksha, nirvana, and maya, especially when compared to other spiritual systems like Kabbalah. Some claim that Hinduism and Buddhism overly focus on detachment or reject the value of the physical world. Let’s set the record straight.

First, moksha (in Hinduism) and nirvana (in Buddhism) are not about selfishly ignoring the world or its suffering. They’re about liberation—from ignorance, suffering, and the cycles of rebirth. Moksha refers to realizing one’s unity with the divine (Brahman), and nirvana involves extinguishing the fires of craving and ignorance, reaching a state of ultimate peace. Detachment, which is often misunderstood, doesn’t mean rejecting life or people. It’s about freeing yourself from unhealthy attachments, not apathy. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 2, Verse 47) explains this beautifully: “You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions.” This isn’t about abandoning effort but about doing your best without clinging to outcomes.

Similarly, Maya is often misinterpreted. It’s not saying the physical world is fake or pointless. Instead, it teaches that the physical realm is impermanent and part of a larger, interconnected reality. It encourages people to see beyond surface-level existence and understand the divine essence within and around them. The Chandogya Upanishad reminds us of this unity with its famous line, “Tat Tvam Asi” (You are That). Maya has nothing to do with the concept of "chosen ones" in a spiritual context. Anyone can recognize Maya and achieve liberation, not only selected individuals.

Buddhism has similar ideas. The Heart Sutra teaches that “form is emptiness, and emptiness is form,” reflecting the interplay between the spiritual and physical realms. Ethical actions in the physical world are vital for spiritual growth, as emphasized in the Dhammapada (Verse 183): “Not to do any evil, to cultivate good, to purify one’s mind—this is the teaching of the Buddhas.” Far from being selfish, this path involves compassion and wisdom. Also, don't forget the bodhisattvas and their sacrifices!

Now, let’s compare this to Kabbalah. Kabbalah also emphasizes the importance of both the physical and spiritual realms, teaching that the physical world is a mirror of the spiritual. The Zohar highlights this: “The higher world and the lower world are interconnected. The actions of people below awaken powers above.” This shows that engaging with the physical is not contrary to spirituality—it’s essential.

All these traditions agree that balance is key. The difference often lies in how these teachings are presented and interpreted. Misunderstandings can arise when someone oversimplifies or cherry-picks ideas, missing the broader wisdom.

It’s also important to recognize that all spiritual traditions have their strengths and weaknesses. They’ve evolved, shaped by culture, history, and the biases of followers for centuries. No single tradition represents the entirety of truth, and none is without flaws. It’s also important to practice what resonates with you and works for you—something you’ve had direct experiences with.

Before adopting any spiritual beliefs, it’s essential to remain balanced and use common sense. Question your own beliefs from time to time, and avoid becoming overly reliant on religious figures or communities. People are human, and perfection is subjective. You could face disappointment if they don’t meet your expectations. Spirituality is a deeply personal journey, and no path is universally “better” than another.

In the astral plane, we find countless beings inhabiting specific regions based on their vibrational frequency. The water in the astral plane is similar to the water in the physical plane, and various entities inhabit these astral waters, including marine life and water spirits. When we think of water spirits, mermaids often come to mind. But what are they, and can all water spirits be considered mermaids?

First, we must understand the aura and composition of an entity's astral body. Mermaids and mermen are beings of the water element. They are considered water elementals not just because they primarily live in water, but because of the composition of their astral bodies. Human beings have five elements in their soul or astral body: fire, water, air, earth, and akasha. In contrast, mermaids and mermen have only one element in their soul, which is water. Thus, they are beings of the water element.

If you have well-developed astral senses, you may be able to see and interact with these beautiful water elementals. Mermaids and mermen are invisible since they are astral beings. They can change their appearance at will, but their natural form is typically that of a supremely beautiful woman or man. They can also remove their fish tails at will. Mermaids and mermen are pure, innocent, powerful, and wise. They embody love with extremely high empathy and compassion.

However, some astral beings may look like mermaids but are not. These beings reside in water but are not of water, meaning their astral bodies are not united with water in nature. Such beings may have a watery aura to some extent, but it is not the same as a mermaid's aura. They generally do not possess the traits of mermaids, such as innocence, empathy, and love. Some of these water entities can be benevolent, while others are more deceitful and malicious.

Not all beings that look half-human and half-fish are automatically mermaids or mermen. Magic is very possible in the astral plane, which is also inhabited by a multitude of beings with different abilities. Some of these astral beings can change their form and turn themselves into any creature at will. They could also make themselves similar to the appearance of mermaids or mermen, even if they do not possess a powerful water element in their astral body. This is why some mermaid-looking creatures might appear malevolent if they do something negative to humans. It is also possible that some humans misunderstand their interactions with actual astral mermaids, perceiving their encounters as negative or even frightening.

Therefore, not all astral water entities are mermaids and mermen, as these majestic beings possess only water in their aura. If an entity has weak water elements or no water elements in its aura, it is likely not a mermaid. Other benevolent astral beings live in the water, such as selkies, gorgons, and even krakens, but they are different from mermaids.

Once, there was a family. They did not know that they lived near a gnome kingdom. The daughter would have unexplained severe mouth sores that no doctor could cure so they have to consult a spiritual healer to explain what is truly happening. Some gnomes can be seen in videos taken by the family, but it is their choice whether to show themselves.

Some extra-solar wanderers have difficulty connecting to certain elements. In fact, if they did, they experienced negative side effects. I become more interested in enhancing my earth element so I tried to invoke gnomes. The first time, it was partially successful. I stopped because of my sudden four mouth sores, which were painful. After the healing process, I began to do path working to enter the earth kingdom. There were gnomes busy with their work. It seemed that they never stopped working. I have a gnome guide and we went to a cave where another high ranking gnome waited for me. He has a very dark energy, not because he is evil. He has the power of silence in his aura, that is why he appeared in that way. Any ordinary human would be uncomfortable with his presence. He spoke of gemstones and their properties, as well as alchemy. He could sense my physical body. When I told him I have stomach issues, he said that it's because I am neurotic. He also told me that my mind is in a higher dimension and that I should focus my life on Earth, or do some grounding.
