Alex tapped his fingers against the counter, it wasn't too long until closing time and the store had been pretty quiet for the last couple of hours. He was flicking through a comic when he was sure he'd felt the page move. The top corner flicked as if there had been a gush of wind... and yet no one had opened the door. The window was closed. He looked around him, for a second he was sure he'd seen someone... and he felt a cold feeling wash over him.
Suddenly he heard a crash from the back of the store... the smashing of glass. Without even thinking, he ran towards it. “What is going on?” he breathed. "I thought I'd heard," he blinked, feeling confused. He'd heard the sound of glass breaking and yet, there was nothing to see. “Who... who’s there? Is someone messing with me?” He realised he was talking into the air and that he was now stood out in the middle of the street.
Comic books. They weren't exactly of interest to Eve. But here she was. But she had watched literature evolve over time, great stories retold time and time again in different forms. Books became plays plays became television and now here we were... books became... drawings? She opened one, flicking through. She felt liek she was decades behind and it would take some time to collect them all.
When she heard the crash, she was already prepared running behind the human, hoping he wouldn't notice she wasn't there moments ago. "I heard that also." She replied, stepping forward. Was it happening again? "I think you should be careful." She cautioned, although truly she did not know the mortal or care for his welfare. But she could not be caught with a wounded mortal out in the open. That would not sit well with her seat on the council. "Did you see anything?"
