There are a lot of times I feel like just…flipping the vegan script.
It’s not ‘polyester’ it’s plastic
It’s not ‘vegan leather’ it’s plastic
Its not ‘faux fur’ it’s plastic
Plastic is a pollutant and causes far more damage to the environment both now and in the future than leather or wool.
Please stop telling me that the Plastic Lyfe is the only life, it is not. My leather shoes will last a decade where pleather is lucky to last 12 months. Leather (and wool) decompose and are renewable. Plastic is neither of those.

Okay but you do know that non-vegans also buy those products? Like, it’s not just vegans buying faux fur and pleather and polyester shirts? Like literally every purse at Target is made with pleather. All those furry scarves and fluffball keychains? Faux fur. Many women’s shirts that are considered “professional” or suitable for office wear are still made out of polyester. A lot of affordable men’s dress shoes are made of faux leather. Yes these products are often not as sturdy or as biodegradable as natural products, but––especially re: those cheap shoes––they’re more affordable for people who might be having financial troubles but hey, still need shoes or dress shirts or things to wear to a job interview. Literally everyone in society is using or has used these products. Don’t throw only vegans under the bus to make yourself feel more high and mighty.
Y’all freaking out over plastic but legit dead animal flesh doesn’t cause you to blink? I’m thinking you just hate vegans and don’t actually care about the environment, otherwise you’d boycott all animal products AKA the biggest polluting industry on earth.
And if you don’t want to buy plastic, that’s great, but the other option isn’t just animal products. Why don’t y’all just say you hate vegans and move on.

Just a textbook example of a false dichotomy. What OP is (probably purposely) doing here is representing two options and trying to reoresent theirs as the lesser of two necessary evils, when in fact there are a multititude of options they are pretending do not exist. In any other context you guys would see right through this fallacious reasoning.
Can you imagine accepting “It’s okay to go to Seaworld because seeing animals in circuses is far worse”? You’d dismiss that out of hand, and point out that there are plenty of ways to do neither, and the same is true or this polyester vs wool and leather vs PU nonesense. Why not give it a fair hearing and compare bamboo t shirts to wool ones? Pinatex shoes to leather ones? I guess that wouldn’t fit your anti-vegan narrative quite so well, which is convenient because it lets us all pretend that we buy leather bechause we think we think it’s more sustainable and plan on keeping it ten years rather than because we think it looks good.
Ever heard of second hand? Thats where I got the vast majority of my clothes. This whole year I didn’t buy a single clothing / accessorie item that wasn’t used. And none of them is made of animal skin, hair or feathers.

Not so fun fact: Its industry standard for egg companies to kill male chicks after they hatch because they’re seen as not useful since they can’t grow up to eventually lay eggs.
