Dor is pain, homesickness, longing for something that you cannot have back, unconditional, eternal love, communion that was severed and only lives on in your head. Dor is sorrow and sadness and it mourns the beauty, peace, light, hope of a lost past. It is ambivalent: it can bring you down or give you strength; it is freedom or confinement. Dor is missing a person or a place, missing the way they made you feel. Dor is fundamental impossibility. But above all, it is permanent and endless.
