it's never unholy family over !!!!!!!!!
Interview with a Vampire is full of Bad People making Bad People Decisions...
But Marius leaving on vacation and leaving the Mother of All Vampires, a World Ending monstrosity, to the equivalent of the local teen with three months of babysitting experience might take the cake
Loustat is so fun to watch because they absolutely deserve each other. and not in a 'your life has been so difficult, you have earned this lovely fairy tale happy ending'. they deserve each other because they are both equally terrible and selfish and monstrous and beautiful and funny and rich and just generally horrific. They deserve each other because no one else should have to put up with them and they are truly soulmating too close to the sun. I love them. They are so awful. this show is the best

Louis realizing he's part of an Italian family now
The Vampire Lestat (2026)
episode 7 of the vampire lestat is a terrible time if you enjoy feeling happy but its an INCREDIBLE time if you think lestat de lioncourt is transgender. obviously those things shouldn't be mutually exclusive but in my experience they lowkey are
i cannot get over the visual of lestat's face screwed up, vomiting, and trying to speak through his vomit with the same rationalization of his abuse we have been hearing all season. i just can't get over it. the writing, the acting, the directing of that one moment is stuck in my head. we've heard these words before, but smoother in the past, the lestat pretending-everything-is-fine tone we've grown used to. to hear those same words shaking out between blood pouring from his mouth, tears in his eyes, the video still playing on the phone, that's not my mother, my mother is dead, she cannot be my mother, she is not my mother, she isn't, she isn't she isn't she isn't
lestat has referred to himself as having a pussy multiple times this season, has done actual drag over the course of the show, has described himself as a princess, a showgirl, a bitch, and a mother, and finally, in his last moments before death, admits that he sometimes wishes he were a woman. and this disgusting, transphobic fandom will still jump through hoops to say he isnāt gender non-conforming because it doesnāt fit their narrow minded view of the character.

LOUISĀ DEĀ POINTEĀ DUĀ LAC Interview With The VampireĀ -Ā 3.07 The Failures
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE | THE VAMPIRE LESTAT ā 3.07 āThe Failuresā
please correct me if iām wrong but even tho lestat was proud that his family would be eating the food he hunted, he hated being pushed into that role right? the role of the hunter? because he wanted to do and be something else entirely
Mm, I wouldnāt say that he hated it - in fact, Iād say a part of him loved it because it got him out of the de Lioncourt house and away from his father and his brothers - but it wasnāt his choice, no. What Lestat tells Paul in 1.01 at the dinner table is true to book canon - as a little boy, he originally wanted to be a priest, in no small part, because the local priest is the only person who tried to teach him to read and write (the priest teaches him how to spell his name as a little boy, and thereās a prayer he can write too, but heās otherwise illiterate until heās turned).
He actually almost gets taken in by the church as a child too, which he tells Paul, but his father goes and gets him and beats him so badly he canāt go back. Thatās about control, of course, his father is immensely controlling, but also about the family name - Lestat should be guaranteed a certain rank within the church as an aristocratic child, but that has to be bought and the familyās broke. His father sees it as a humiliation to him that Lestat would never get the appropriate rank, and so denies him a Catholic education as a result.
This is really an aside to your ask, but Lestatās relationship to religion is actually really important in TVL. Heās kind of the embodiment of that line that goes around āGod loves you, but not enough to save youā, and there are three really important moments which basically destroy his relationship with God - the first as a little boy where he becomes absolutely inconsolably hysterical at the site of some of the witch trials, the second when God doesnāt intervene with his father (which the showās already written in to 1.01) and finally when he begs God to save him as Magnus rapes him, which is ultimately the death knell in his relationship to God.
But after the clergy, Lestat meets a travelling group of actors when heās about 13 (I think? Heās a young teen in the book) and itās that moment that theatre basically becomes his new church and itās all he wants to do. He tries to runaway with them too, but his father and brothers both go and get him, beat him, and bring him back. Again, acting in this period of history was considered barely a step up from sex work, so it was reputational again for the Marquis, but also an act of abuse and control.
The theatre obviously remains a type of church for Lestat though, and I donāt think thereās ever anything heās wanted to do more than perform, which is part of the tragedy of Magnus finding him because of the theatre, and both Nicki and Claudia dying in one too. Itās a place of immense trauma for him, but he canāt break free of it in the way he could the church, I think in no small part because the theatre did free him for a while, even if it killed him too.
But yeah, I mean hunting was something he liked and was good at, but it wasnāt ever something that really drove him.
Also adding to this because I was thinking about it while I was in yoga just now, but I think thereās a frequent misconception about the meaning of the wolf killer sequence in the book, because yes, Magnus chooses Lestat because he is both āWolfkillerā and āLelioā, heās both the beautiful romantic and the man who could kill the wolves, and I think Lestat as a character understands that to mean Magnus picked him because of his capacity as a hunter (something he understands to be his only value to his father), but I think Anne makes it really clear as a writer that Magnus chooses him less because he could kill the wolves, and more the fact that he could survive them.
If Lestat is to be his legacy, he has to be able to survive not just this life, but a thousand more, and hell, he has to be able to survive what Magnus is going to do to him. He needs someone with more than just a capacity to endure, but someone who can claw their way back out of the woods. The hunting matters, but not as much as the fact he got out and kept going.
when can we have fun and talk about how this was like in the all time best episodes of this show (every episode lowk)
