“What? No, uh, thank you but I don’t drink.”

             ‘ are you kidding? and then the hottest hunk gets off his leathered motorcycle and tells you “well, baby, wanna go for a ride?” it’d be a hit! ‘

                     ‘ You’re a very bad influence,’ Baby laughs. 

Nope, that was 100% stone cold truth. The more she learns about us, the younger and more glowing her skin becomes. It’s a whole ‘wicked witch’ thing, I think. … Don’t tell anyone I said that.

Yes, that was french, one of the few phrases I know. And I’m doing okay, it hasn’t been my favorite party so far but it’s...it’s okay. Thank you, Nate. 

Why the long face? 

“Thanks.” Serena tries for a reassuring smile, but she can’t quite get it to reach her eyes. “Just ball jitters, you know. This whole thing is kind of a let down. Wow, that sounded so complain-y of me. I’m really having a good time, please don’t think otherwise. Just maybe not the best time ever.” She laughs this time, genuine and a surprise even to herself. “So you’d say you were an emotional massage chair? That’s a really sweet offer, thank you.” If there were anyone she could think of to share her woes with, it would be sweet Baby, who seemed like the last person in the world to judge. But she still needed to keep her secret a secret. “I’m…the guy I really want to be here with is someone else’s date. I’m just feeling a little down because of it.”

“Oh man, shall we share our pain together then? I think I might be stuck in the same situation. I might be. I don’t know if he is but he probably should be here with someone else, right? Uhm, so who’s the guy? I don’t mean to pry or anything.”
