There’s a lot to take away from this interview with maxsebela, including a very handsome headshot and this take on millennials:

We’re moving away from the concept of video being important and instead thinking more about how much time there is to be entertained by content. Consumers have a certain amount of time over the course of their day to experience leisure, and all content—still content, animated content, video—competes for millennials’ time.

Millennials are not thinking about medium or format—they’re thinking about where they want to spend time discovering things, being entertained and ultimately seeing video.

The access Union Metrics has to the Tumblr data firehouse allows it to chart just how that post spread through the Tumblr ecosystem, identifying the users who played the biggest role in amplifying its reach. This is what that looks like, visualized:

Summer is almost over, which means it’s time for the latest edition of our Transparency Report, covering January through June, 2015. As with previous editions, this report contains information about all of the government requests for user information we’ve received in the past six months.

But wait, there’s more. This time around, we’re proud to introduce a whole new component to the report: We’re reporting all of the copyright and trademark infringement claims that we received. Moreover, we’re laying out our process for handling those claims. Resolving intellectual property disputes is a complex (but legally required!) part of managing any kind of platform, and we hope this glimpse into the inner workings proves helpful.

So…wanna hear some of the numbers? In total, we were required to remove 77,357 posts pursuant to a valid DMCA notice, which make up only 0.00007% of the posts on Tumblr. On the government requests front, we were required to provide a governmental entity with data or content from 205 blogs. That’s 0.00008% of all the blogs on Tumblr.

What does that mean for you? It means that you’re 125 times more likely to be injured by a toilet than to be affected by one of these requests.
