Wally Hedrick, βWar Roomβ (1967)Β
Wally Hedrick was born in Pasadena, California in 1928; and he began his college education at Otis Art Institute, Los Angeles and completed his masters at San Francisco State University. During the later years of his life, he taught at College of Marin, in Novato, California; specifically, the Indian Valley Campus.Β
Wally Hedrick was known as vehemently anti-establishment; many of his works are blatant criticisms of the government, the institution of art, and authority entirely. As a Korean War veteran; Hedrick had an intensely intimate viewpoint of war β and this experience heavily influenced the creation of βWar Roomβ. War Room was made as a protest against the Vietnam War; and the black interior meant to embody wounded veterans.
