when the standard 'mental health advice' has failed you for decades, you start coming up with other, more fun stuff. for a while now i've been interrupting obsessive thought spirals with 'WHATEVER, i hope everyone explodes,' which has been working well. however it is also a little negative so i've been trying to replace it with 'i hope everyone falls in a really big hole.' this is great because trying to figure out whether everyone is falling in the same really big hole or if everyone gets a personal really big hole to fall into or if people are unevenly distributed among really big holes to fall into is usually distracting enough to interrupt the spiral.

the cat has been more affectionate with my husband recently which means i often hear things like 'look, he's sweet - ow. ow ow ow.'

when you start learning human anatomy you look at diagrams of internal organs and think 'these have been deliberately illustrated in a way that facilitates understanding. they're not actually conveniently color-coded in real life.' and then you look at someone's real opened abdominal cavity and think 'huh. they kind of are though.'

does anyone who follows me know of good places to look at videos/pictures of human surgeries. medicalvideosdotcom really likes to show 10 seconds of footage and then skip ahead and show a new 10 seconds and then skip ahead etc.
