I haven't had any direct issues with CanisAlbus or their community, aside from being blocked by them (I still don't know why). Because of that, and because I don't know every detail of this situation, I don't think I'm the right person to speak on the entire controversy. I also don't want to turn my account into a place for discussing it.

I want to make one thing clear: my opinion is not against CanisAlbus. I completely understand how frustrating and heartbreaking it must be to see blatant copies of your original characters. I've seen cases where people clearly crossed the line between inspiration and copying, and I don't think any artist should have to deal with that.

What I don't support is the harassment directed at artists who clearly aren't copying anyone. Similar concepts or art styles don't automatically make someone a copy, and I don't think it's right for people to receive hate over assumptions. My issue has never been with CanisAlbus as an artist, but with the behavior of some of their fans and how those situations end up affecting people who have nothing to do with it.

I'd also rather my name or this statement not be used as evidence, testimony, or support for either side of this discussion. As I said, I'm not the right person to speak for this entire situation—this is simply my personal opinion.

First, I sketch everything traditionally. I have a ridiculous number of sketchbooks where I make all my drawings before taking them to digital

Once the sketch is finished, I import it into Ibis Paint to clean up the lines and turn the traditional sketch into a digital one. I only do this when I'm feeling too lazy to make the lineart completely from scratch digitally, which is why some of my drawings have a more noticeable paper texture than others

After that, I switch to another app called SketchBook, which I use almost exclusively for coloring. It's mostly free, and although it has a premium version, it's pretty affordable. Even without it, you can use almost all of the features without any problems. I've been using it for about six years and still haven't bought Premium lol. It also has a really nice selection of textured brushes, although I usually stick to only about six tools

When I'm really motivated to do fully digital lineart, I use my laptop. I have a drawing tablet, but I don't use it for coloring because my laptop's screen doesn't display colors very accurately, so they never look quite right. For lineart, I use a free program called Krita, which also has a great variety of textured brushes. I'd love to make better use of them once I can afford a better laptop in a few years
