âYou frighten yourself so effectively, any effort from us seems superfluous. You are what you are, or some other motivational jargon.â
Josh blinked a few times, âWell, thanks for the advice ladies. But youâre right,â he shook his head, âIâve gone from being scared of everyone else here to begin scared of me. Ironic really.â
streakofwhxte:
She can feel her throat closing, the air struggling to escape. Annaâs trying to stop herself from crying, but sheâs struggling, a lot. She can hear anger in her mind; not her own, but the anger that is causing her this pain. She wishes that life had never done this to her, even if that meant that she were to die. Upon hearing Joshâs voice, feeling his touch on her shoulder, sheâs shocked; she begins to choke, looking to him with a look of fear in her eyes. I will hurt you. She thinks, before realising her coat is still on. Heâs safe, for now.Â
Josh doesnât know whatâs wrong. For all his abilities the thoughts of others are still a mystery to him. But sheâs clearly upset about something. When she looked to him he could see she was scared, so he gathered his weary powers and forced a little more of his healing energy into her, aiming to calm her somewhat, or at least enough to be able to speak with him. âItâs alright, itâs all alright, Iâm here. Youâre going to be okay now.â he told her.

âOption 2: ghosts arenât real and itâs almost impossible to get a moment alone around here.â
âDonât sass me.â Josh scolded, âIâll leave you alone once Iâm certain youâre not injured. I donât know if youâve been out... doing stuff, since last time.â
đ¤ to fall asleep next to my muse
Josh had been kicked out of the Med-Bay... For the eight day running, he suspected they were as annoyed with kicking him out as he was annoyed at being kicked out. Determined to stay up out of spite heâd ended up in the living area couch with Megan watching some on film heâd never seen before.
âI donât get is... Is John Wayne the good guy or the bad g-guy?â he yawned as he spoke. The screen had blurred to colours as his eyes drifted shut, in moments his head and lolled to the side and landed on Meganâs shoulder.
âMmm... comfy.â he murmured, breathing evening out in seconds.

He grinned a little, âThanks though Megs.â

âUhh... No. Thatâs Harry Potter. Star Wars is the one with the Jediâs and the Sith and the lightsabers that go- wooooooo-hooooooooo-wooooooo.â Josh moved his hands a little as he made the noise.

âThis is as close to mischief as I get and you know, I donât even feel that bad.â Josh said, a smug grin on his face and he threw the last of the communal fridges junk food into a bin back, âNow the fridge is stocked with only healthy options, see if people will ignore my nutritional advice anymore... Now,â he turned to Alexis, âWhere do we get rid of this?â

Are You Alright? ||Â Rocket & Josh
fastandfurry-ous:
Under any ânormalâ circumstance Rocket was all for lyinâ about where he was at emotionally, or even physically. Right now it was the latter. People. People were too clingy and he needed a moment to breathe. His friends were okay, sure. But nothing REALLY puts things in perspective like a bunch of hospital beds and the crumbling foundations of a university. When he wanders and sees a familiar face, he shakes his head and crosses his arms as the male is speaking.
âTreatment? There ainât nothinâ that can cure what Iâve got, kid.â He quips back to the golden boy. âWell, there is somethinâ but apparently, itâs frowned upon to bring Terran Vodka to the Med-Bay and offer it around.â He says it so callously with a raise of his shrugs. âHowâre ya holdinâ up?â He was an asshole, sure. There was no denyinâ that, but he was curious to truly see the impact of it all. Especially considerinâ how Josh was one of the few medics in this place. Backwater planet seems like such an understatement in that regard.
Josh smiled sadly, but nodded, âYouâre probably right. In the end, Iâm not as good a healer as Iâd wish.â Heâd lost people, and he was powerless to try and help people like Peter whoâs minds were... damaged in the course of the attack. If heâd been better then maybe he could have fixed that too, as it was, he wasnât good enough. Maybe some day heâd be able to help more people, rather than slump against a wall and feel sorry for himself.
âThe doctorâs donât like that no. We donât tend to use alcohol to numb wounds anymore. Though if youâve got any one you... I wouldnât mind a swig.â Something to help him on his way to a dreamless sleep. Josh opened his mouth to answer but found no words came out, truth be told he wasnât coping, he was barely getting by, âOh, Iâm not.â he said quietly, âIâm not holding up at all. But itâs okay, Iâll just get through the day and then fall into bed and break down there.â he said it rather matter of factly, âItâs easy to sweep it all away when youâre working.â He paused a moment, âAre you sure thereâs nothing I can do for you?â
streakofwhxte:
Sheâs convulsing on this bench, trying to hide the fact that sheâs crying, but not doing a good job of it. The sound of her gasping for breaths in between each sob can be heard echoing around the campus; sheâs frozen to the spot, effectively.Â
Josh was achey, it had been another full day at the Med-Bay but he didnât want to waste any energy healing his own fatigue. Heâd been sent on his way (again) for âhis own goodâ but when he passed a bench and came upon Anna crying, he couldnât help but stop and go over.
âHey,â he said quietly, concern on his furrowed brows as he placed a hand on her (luckily clothed) shoulder, it began to glow, searching for injuries as well as trying to soothe her best he could, âAnna, what is it? Whatâs wrong? Do you need help?â
jxstaguy:Â
His initial reaction is sheer bemusement. That was not what he was expecting. He was expecting to get told heâs crazy or reckless or to stop doing what heâs doing. Complete acceptance isâŚsurprising. He wasnât expecting to get a hug out of this either, but he awkwardly brings his arms up to return it. Which doesnât hurt. Looks like heâs found himself a miracle worker.Â
Josh is probably the best person to have found this out, if he had to choose someone. Mattâs never particularly concerned about injuries anyway, but now he definitely doesnât need to be. And it is difficult - difficult to do, and difficult to keep quiet. At least now he doesnât have to keep it totally quiet. It did feel good to talk to someone. He wasnât kidding when he said it was dangerous, though. âItâs not easy. But itâs necessary. Thank you, Josh. Really, I was expecting a lecture or something.â He lets go of Josh, turns away. âIâve got a lot of pretty nasty enemies. Just so you know what youâre getting into here.â
Josh didnât want to make the other uncomfortable, it  was just that his powers, different though they were, struck a chord of similarity with his own, and it felt... nice, knowing someone could understand how powers could make compulsions. Josh wasnât about to sneak out into the city hospitals and try to save everyone, but anyone he came across who needed help, he couldnât bring himself to walk away.
Josh let go as Matt did and sighed before answering, âOh youâre getting one hell of a lecture.â he said sternly, âFor goodness sake some of those wounds could have festered or gotten much worse and you'd have been weak or hurt going out again. If youâre injured from now on you come to me straight away and you damn well donât ever try and leave during treatment until I say so. Understand?â he asked, leaving no room for argument, âAs for the rest, if itâs necessary to you, then I will help.â he smiled softly, âWell, a little coward like me shouldnât dare any attention. Besides, if they donât know who you are thanks to the ninja get-up, how are they going to find out about me?â Â

âHow is helping your father selfish?â she asks, brows furrowed in confusion. âIf helping someone to make yourself feel good is selfish then everyone is guilty of that.â she says calmly, sipping from her cinnamon late and licking some whipped cream off her upper lip. âLiterally Josh. Everyone.â she tells him. âSome people can do things out of the kindness of their heart but in the end there is always the reward of the satisfaction of knowing you did something for someone else. Even if you donât demand payment, there is always one in the end.â
 She waits for him to finish. âAs for your powersâŚwhat exactly are they? If you donât mind me asking. Iâm just curious, given yourâŚ.complexion.â she chose her wording carefully, not wanting to upset him again.
@healing-elixirâ
He was quiet, taking a small sip of his tea before answering, âBecause all I did was act like a negotiator, I made friends to make play-dates so my father could come along, meet their father, or mother, and make more business deals. I didnât really care about the person I was with, only what they could do for my father.â That hadnât been fair to them, heâd been nothing but a scam artist. He smiled softly, âI suppose that makes me profoundly selfish then.â he said quietly, âBut I donât mind this selfishness, so long as it lets me help other people in a way that matters.â
At her question he smiled once more, âTo be honest, Iâm not sure where my skin-colour comes into it.â Perhaps heâd figure it out someday, âBut my ability, itâs healing.â he explained, âA sort of, biochemical manipulatory power. I can fix cuts, grazes, broken limbs and the like in minutes, sometimes seconds.â
@tinyblondespiderâ
littlesummertelepath:
âTime.â She repeats this word as if thereâs so much time in the world for her to give. As if every fleeting moment is only leading he further away from where she is now, and as the walls close in it becomes dark in her mind and sheâs forcing the walls off of her body andâit stops. Sheâs looking down at his hand on her knee, glowing, and somehow she feels at ease. âYou think Iâm impressive?â She finds this unbelievable. âIâm just a telepath,â she pauses. âOne that hurts people.â She refers to the time in the Medbay, and she thinks he must have heard of the incident. Her lips pull into a smile, sad as it was. Megan leans her body forward, just like she had moments ago but now her lips donât reach for his but instead her arms are capturing his body. Sheâs pulling him close and resting her face in the empty place of his neck. âThanks Josh. Youâre too good to me, far too kind.â
âSure.â he nodded, as though it were that simple, which he supposed in a way, it was. All Megan needed to do was tough it out with the pair and they were bound to come around. Surely fellow mutants would be sympathetic to a plight as strange as this one, or at least, he was trying to be. And his relaxing her body, soothing aches as best he could was one example of that. âA mutation doesn't make us who we are. If can effect us, impact our lives certainly,â like his did him, âBut who we are isnât dependant on it.â He could choose not to heal someone, but now he knew it went against not just his mutation, but his nature. Josh wanted to help people. âWell, you havenât hurt me. And besides, we all hurt people at times, itâs how we make it up to them and ourselves that matters.â When she lent into him, he smiled. Both hands came up and gently rubbed against her back, still glowing, trying to help, âHardly either of those things,â he said quietly, âDonât worry Megs, itâll all turn out alright.â
