âIf he does anything funny weâll just turn his head inside out and blame someone else,â Esme assured her sisters. âThis schoolâs proper crazy so thereâs any number of candidates for it.â

âIâm sure he doesnât want trouble over a simple injury. Thereâs no point leaving it to potentially get infected so we can all make a scene,â Irma said out loud, trying to help Sophie derail all of that. They knew that Josh Foley didnât really like them, he had been broadcasting that quite clearly up to now. But she didnât want to start a fight.
âI - oh, very well,â Celeste sighed, holding out her arm to him.
Josh waited while the girls âdebatedâ in their freaky way. Frankly so long as they stayed out of his head he could cope with the weird âfive girls one mindâ thing or whatever it was. He just didnât wanna fight or get hurt.
âAnd on that one youâd be damn right.â he deadpanned, âAnd a wound like this is likely to fester, especially given the amount of contact youâll have with other people in dormitories.â he added. Besides, for his many many faults, and he was sure the whole damn campus would be happy to make a list, he didnât like seeing people hurt. âAlright then.â
He reached his hands out, gently cradling the injured appendage before asking quietly, âWhich one are you?â his voice gentler for a change.
