Headspace Jashverse

We're still not planning to tag our fic with multiplicity/plurality, since it is very different from most system fics, focusing entirely on the innerworld and with no switches or anything. They're basically all singlets- other than Jekyll and Hyde- except the world they're in happens to be inside someone's head. They affect each other ways headmates do, but while they share a brain, they don't really consider themselves to share a body- their body is Whole's, and pretty much only Whole's. And if you're wanting to read a multiplicity fic, ours probably won't satisfy that.

We made a decision a while ago to only ever focus on the headspace in this fic, never Whole's external life except for where it impacts them. Partially this is because Whole is only slightly to the left of Real Guy Chonny Jash, and we don't want to speculate too much on him, and partially because that's not what the fic is about. If we ever do, it would probably be in a separate fic and maybe not canon. Whole is inspired by Chonny Jash, and his songs, and the things about him that have been made public information mostly via his social media, but he's not meant to be an exact copy, that would be weird. And I don't think the real Chonny Jash has a bunch of his songs as people running around his head.

Whole probably wouldn't spend much time in plural spaces, but if he did, he'd probably consider himself plural, and would say that he's a system with an asterisk if asked, but wouldn't consider himself a system, due to never switching and it having relatively little impact on his life. After all, Whole isn't a system, Whole and everyone in his head are. And since Whole is the only one accessible to the outside world, when people ask, "are you a system," they're pretty much just asking Whole if Whole is a system.

If he'd have- well, probably not have, but qualify for- any diagnoses, it would probably be P-DID due to not switching. But honestly, he probably isn't disordered, he doesn't experience distress from it {except for H+M fighting}, and he doesn't blend with anyone- except Soul, and that's more like a temporary fusion- only experiencing passive influence.

As for what his origins would be, we're thinking probably mixed- while we probably won't go into the trauma itself, our headcanon is that HMS's split was probably traumagenic. Out of universe and somewhat in universe, all the other people are just that every time Whole/Chonny Jash writes a song or album, a new person appears, but what it's meant to be is that when he spends a lot of time thinking about something- which tends to happen when you're writing a song!- it turns into a Jashling in his head. Which makes the majority of the Jashlings endogenic- though some, like the Gothic Whores, whatever I'm gonna do with MajMel, probably TUSOUD, etc- also some sort of hyperfixation-genic- whatever the word for that is. Also it makes some- like CJPH, ATTFC, etc- possibly stressgenic or traumagenic.

And then of course, he realises that when he dwells on a thought or emotion, especially when he writes a song about it, that creates a Jashling, and so he intentionally uses that- this happened with Felicia, and while I'm not sure he'll do it with that much intentionally again, it does shape his thinking and songwriting- making part of his system willogenic!

We view ourselves, and usually plurality in general, psychologically rather than spiritually, and due to this Whole and his system do too. Their world is imaginary and while their "sources" affect them and are certainly real in one sense of the word, they didn't actually come from those places.
