Here's a newbie guide I made! It's got a glossary!

It's easy to make journals and mess around with them and you only need one email account! Play with canon characters like barbie dolls! Play with OCs also like barbie dolls! It's fun!!

If you've dropped off journal rp and you want a little place to hop back in and warm up I have started a comm for this purpose!! New and old people super super welcome!

There are so many game settings you can play in, non-commitment memes you can dip in and out of without any stress, graphics communities, all of it. Also the archival system works beautifully. I can still read rp logs from 15 years ago if I go looking for it. Privacy settings are wonderful as well. I cannot stress this enough: the privacy and archive settings of dreamwidth journals and communities are leagues above any other rp format I've tried. Even if there is ever a worry that the dreamwidth site itself may go down, there are any number of ways to easily back up the logs to your personal device.

The initial learning curve to how using the journal account for play-by-post works is a bit of work up front, but it's honestly the most straightforward way I've ever seen it done in all my years of experimenting around.
