A Little Game | Eric & Hayden
Taking another sip of his drink, Eric’s eyes skirted the room. Coming to the bar had become a daily routine, even when he couldn’t afford it. He’d managed to get free drinks out of the bartender every night, and when she didn’t work, he pulled out the few dollars he had in his pocket. He’d decided to have a last few scores in Cape Town before he left with the bunch to Canada. Turning his head to look at the woman who took a seat next to him, Eric turned his body to face her. He leaned his arm against the counter, and a small smile tugged on his lips. He remembered her. He’d thought the same thing when he first saw her. She was hot, and she looked like a good fuck. Shrugging, Eric signaled to the bartender. He’d put the drinks on his tab, and most likely beg Beth to take care of it later. “Eric,” He replied. He shrugged at her accusation, glancing from her to the bar tender. “Maybe I can make it up to you. Drinks on me.”
Hayden smiled at the mention of him buying her drinks. This was relieving, especially after her previous drunken escapade. "Keep that up and that won't be the only thing on you," she assured him. "Hayden. Nice to official meet you." She'd forgotten how easy picking up guys was. If it weren't for the enormous amount of self respect she had for her body, Hayden might've quit her job as a teacher and become a prostitute. It would make her life that much easier. "How'd you know the way in a woman's heart was through alcohol?"

"She wanna buy a dream, I said I don’t sell it but she can rent it for a night, I don’t mind, open wide"
Oh uh,okay. — I’m fine. But,thank you.
Water? You look like you could use some water. What’s got you so worked up that you can’t even find your own apartment?

"Oh, my bad, didn’ realize I was serving royalty over here," he snorted, leaning forward on his forearms. The night was winding down and the employees that had actually shown up seemed to have a handle on the other patrons so he figured there was no harm in sticking with the entertainment. "I’ll open a tab fer you. And trust me, if you don’t pay it, I’ll come find you."
At her sloppy but flirtatious, though it missed the mark by a mile, advancement though, he immediately straightened up. Gabe’s eyebrows shot to his hairline as he bit back a grin, not wanting to outright laugh in the poor girl’s face. “You know I can barely understand any of what you’re sayin’, right?” he responded shrewdly, “But you’re welcome.” Leaning over once more, he pressed a finger against her forehead, carefully pushing her back in her seat. “Don’t want you falling over, do we?”
"Aren’t I more likely to fall backwards than forward? Especially when you’re purposely trying to tip me over like that. I’m just saying." Hayden held up her hands defensively. "I was only trying to thank you."
Her poor attempts at flirting were obvious, but there was no reason to bring that up. Hayden was making a complete fool of herself, and it would only come back to bite her later on. “How long have you worked here?” she asked him, purposely over annunciating her words. “I’m Hayden, by the way. I don’t think I ever introduced myself.” She held her hand out over the counter shakily offering a handshake.

--But I knew that.
….. — Oh,yeah. You’re right. Wrong apartment…sorry. Uh,I’m fine. Thanks.
It's fine really... If I let you leave now I'll feel like an ass later. Do you want anything to drink?
Oh. Hi uh,you found the key under the doormat,I suppose?
I think you may have the wrong address. You alright?
………. — Is s-someone in here?
Uh... yeah.

"Yeah, well you’re gonna have to open a tab if you plan on drinking more because I think you’re out of money," he rolled his eyes, pulling the glass off the counter in front of her. "Okay, sure. A gift. We’ll see what you’re saying in a few more hours."
Gabe’s eyebrows rose higher and higher as his customer launched into a story of her day, indulging her with a well-placed snort or two. Everyone was aware of what was going on in the town, but it still seemed ridiculously crazy to just believe everything. A part of him was hoping that this was just some elaborate, belated, April Fool’s joke. “The more you talk, the more exasperatingly drunk you sound,” he huffed, leveling her with only a slightly judgmental look. He reached back into the cooler to grab a bottle while also making a show of snatching up the rum, “Coke and rum, s’all you’re getting.” The drink ended up just being coke with barely a splash of rum but Gabriel figured what the girl didn’t know, wouldn’t hurt her.
"Money is not a problem, my friend. Trust me." Though the job she was currently working did not allow her to drink herself half to death on a regular basis, she figured she'd enjoy it now and regret it later.
"Drunk? I can't be that drunk. Half drunk at the most. You know?" Figuring her story must've tugged at the heart strings since he was allowing her another drink, she smiled to herself feeling satisfied. She was too drunk to realize that there was barely any rum in drink, and in the future she'd probably be thanking him. Now that she'd finally gotten her drink, she took the time to take in the appearance of the handsome bartender, and the drunk Hayden liked what she saw. Abandoning whatever reputation she assumed she upheld, Hayden drunkenly leaned over table and smiled. "I really appreciate that drink. It was fantastic by the way."

Gabe had been warily watching the pretty young woman pound back drink after drink all night, terrified that she would be the first to puke all over his freshly cleaned bar top. Tonight definitely wasn’t a night he wanted to deal with any of that. Especially since half his bartenders had bailed again and the other half were apparently terrified of these so-called monsters wandering around town. He walked over when she signaled for another drink, barely making out slurred jumble of words and rolling his eyes a bit. Clapping his hand on top of her glass, he resolutely told her, “No.”
Some of the firmness behind his voice was lost when he couldn’t help but snicker at her rambling though. “The water I can get for you though,” he said, placing a bottle in front of her, “I’m cutting you off, boozy. You’ve had too much. And you’ve spent a couple hundred already so either stop or just give me your bank account information.” As soon as he finished, he heard retching coming from the corner and saw a man bent over a few feet away from the door of the restroom. “Aw hell. Really? I was sure it was gonna be you,” he sighed and told one of the waitresses to go get it cleaned up. It was only a slight abuse of power considering how much he paid these assholes. “So close to the fuckin’ restroom too.”
Hayden's drunken escapade was rudely interrupted by an unfamiliar hand covering her glass. All she could think to do was glare at him in silent protest. "Excuse me, sir. I am a paying customer. Now I command you to unhand my glass." In the meantime, Hayden chugged down the water he'd handed her. "I do not puke," Hayden assured him. "I am not a puker. I can hold my liquor better than anyone I know. It's a gift."
At this point Hayden was growing of weary of the male's overly cautious attitude. All she wanted was another drink. "If you'd seen all the things I've seen today, you'd want to get completely shitfaced too." Hayden couldn't stop thinking about how silly Iris looked with her weird vampire teeth and blackened eyes. She looked like something straight out of a Supernatural episode. When's the last time she'd watched that show anyways? She'd have to have been a teenager. "Well, you see, there was this girl who'd risen from the grave after like three days, and then she told me a bunch of people were going to try and eat me. And she did this thing with her face where her eyes turned black and her teeth were really sharp." Hayden was sure that her story would convince him, but she decided to be nice about it just to make sure. "Now can I have another drink? Pretty please?"
Hm. Hayden remembered him. He said he was a supernatural makeup artist. But after her incident with Iris, Hayden wasn't sure what to believe anymore. That wasn't going to stop her from flirting. Or maybe making him cry. Hayden had been determined to beat him at his own game since the first day she encountered him. She had the upper hand at that moment (she didn't drink anything yet) and there was no way she was going to waste it. "I don't remember you ever telling me your name," Hayden announced as she slid into the seat beside him. "You were too busy being an asshole."
Do you speak french?
A little.
Yes, that’s right. Thank you. Hayden —right? I don’t believe we’ve actually got the chance to speak this year.
That's right. I don't know how didn't run into each other. Shame. You seem like a nice guy.

Hayden couldn't recall why she'd picked Cape Town of all places to move to. She could've picked anywhere. There were probably so many places that were more beautiful, less expensive, and not populated with Supernaturals. Before today, she wasn't even aware of their existence. After seeing what Iris was capable of turning into to, she didn't even want to think about what the rest of the people who occupied this place were like. Everywhere she went, she was constantly looking over her shoulder to make sure someone wasn't following her. Who's to say that somebody wasn't planning on attacking her? There was only one thing that Hayden felt could calm her down. She wasn't proud of it, but she couldn't think of anything else.
Someone who worked with her had informed her about this neat little bar not too far from her home. She didn't feel like mixing anything herself, so she headed over there. The female made herself comfortable on the bar stool and ordered drink after drink after drink. Hayden knew that she was drinking to fast, but she couldn't have cared less. As long as she'd be able to have peace-- Even if it was only temporary. "Another Screwdriver, please... Don't forget the water. Can't forget the water. It's so damned important. You know, I was telling this guy about how he needed to drink water while he drank. He didn't know that. Isn't it crazy?"
What?
Adam-- Right? I heard you were offered a job in London. Congrats.
