This was really happening, huh? Kate wasn’t exactly sure how she even came to be in this situation but here she was, squaring up to a cat girl with an extremely bad attitude. It was times like these where she really wished she had her bow-- the putty arrow would be fun to use, or maybe the net arrow. Just shoot a net at her and see what happens.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be and all Kate had if the situation escalated was a toy bow and her fists but first came the snarky response to the other girl’s threats.

Five minutes came and went; it was then that Kate knew she’d been played. He wasn’t going to show up, was he? Why did she put her trust in some guy she met at a bus stop anyway? She should have known better than that...

“I really wouldn’t be surprised, like, at all.” Given that she was in some strange city on a strange island in some weird dimension or whatever, and given everything she had seen in her life with the Young Avengers and on the West Coast, not much actually surprised her anymore. In terms of weirdness anyway. It was entirely possible that this guy high-fived Death, because why not?

The rain came out of nowhere-- bright one moment and the next Kate was doing her best to shield her take-out bag from the sudden change of weather. Not only that, flashes of lightning were visible in the distance, accompanied by the low rumble of thunder which grew louder with each instance. 

Taking shelter beneath a bus stop with another, the archer would stand in silence, eyes downcast at her sodden take-out; so much for that... 

There was a silence between the two, both of them seemingly minding their own business when Kate glanced toward him then shuffled a little closer. “Hi.”

It was part of the job, after all. It was rare she came out of a fight without a scratch and the bag of frozen peas she was currently holding against her temple while Dortin tended to a wound on her arm definitely came in useful. This was a regular occurrence for her, her friends could vouch for her if they weren’t somehow involved themselves.

When asked for directions, Kate couldn’t bring herself to say no. It wasn’t that she didn’t know her way around, because she did, kind of... it was just that she wasn’t completely familiar with this area of town and the longer she wandered, pretending she knew exactly where she was going, the sooner she realised her lie would be exposed. Her intentions were good, of course, she really did just want to help but maybe it was better to actually know the area properly before offering her assistance. 

Leaning in the chair Clint watches her with mild concern. It sure was a messed up dimension but… he couldn’t say he was too worried. Once upon a time ago sure but not anymore. He’s been in this too long for that.

“I really did.” Clint genuinely admits to missing her, even if she was being a little sassy about it. Then came the questions, all mostly predicable for someone he knew so well in the position they were in. Clint looks at the toy with a small smile and waves it off with a gesture. “Don’t worry about the toy I got extra.” He sits up. “So the thing is… I dunno how the hell this place works. It’s unpredictable an’ for as long as I been here I haven’t found a real way out. I know it’s not what you wanna hear but.. I don’t have much on how it works an’ anyone else you talk to probably wont either.”

“Here is… also unknown… I honestly thing we’re on some different planet- obviously a different universe but.. to be honest-” And she was probably going to be disappointed with him. He’s looking down at the table. “ ….I stopped trying to understand it.” It probably sounded like giving up, especially to someone that just got here.. especially to Kate- who had so much fight in her, who would probably never give up if she had been in the same situation before him.

With a sigh Clint still isn’t looking at her as he slumps on the table. “It changes…. people come and go. Natasha was here…” There’s a pain in his voice when he says it, hes sure Kate would notices even if he attempts to cover it. “I’ve seen… Spider-Man, Loki, Thor… some X-men.. pretty sure a symbiote was here at one point.. never seems like they stay long though and then its just… me… still here.”

Oops we don’t want to go too far down that way. Clint clears his throat and taps on the table as he sits up. “You’ll get your stuff back eventually.. it jus’ takes time. An havin a place t’ stay is better than not.. the livin’ area’s ain’t so bad even if you gotta share it with strangers for a bit… I got my own place though. Where you can stay.. of course.. if you want.”

She takes a moment to process-- she’s relieved to know he has extra weapons, she’d just have to borrow one until she found her own and it seemed like this place was a complete mystery to literally all its inhabitants. However, the way her expression fell when he said he’d stopped trying... she didn’t want to feel disheartened, she’d hoped he’d be able to tell her something, anything that would help figure out a way home... but it was hard to mask her disappointment. Before she could declare how she would never stop looking for a way home, Clint continued. People they knew were here; Black Widow, Spider-Man, X-Men as well as many more, but the look of disappointment quickly shifted into a smile as soon as Loki was mentioned. “Well, if Loki was here then this place is definitely trouble. You’re sure it’s not one of his tricks?” Despite her attempt to lighten the situation, she knew him well enough to know that if Natasha had come and gone, it was going to hurt. That made her all the more determined to get the hell out of here. 

She pulls herself together and any discouragement she felt earlier is forced to the back of her mind, though she did shoot him a questioning look-- how was he able to get his own place when she had to share? That wasn’t fair. “I might take you up on that.” She supposed she should say hi to her roomies first. “But if you traumatise me in any way, I’m going to destroy you.” In other words, please wear clothes.
