Lebanon’s last-living train driver is the only proof trains actually roamed Lebanon in the past. Every time I see my train my heart breaks all over again. Asaad Namroud 91, spoke with passion about his train-driving-career, without missing the tiniest detail about his journeys; As he walks in the abandoned Riyaq train station next door, you feel the sadness in his eyes and voice as he points to his own locomotive train that he parked in 1975 before the train service was shut down during the civil war.

Demonstrations near the U.S. Embassy in Awkar, north of Beirut, Sunday, turned violent as protesters took to the streets to denounce U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to recognize occupied Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The protest turned violent when riot police attacked journalists, photographers and protesters with tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannons and using illegal force to arrest people.
