Alanna Masterson has played Tara on The Walking Dead since season four, and has always been one [...]
Alanna Masterson has played Tara on The Walking Dead since season four, and has always been one of the more comical characters on the show. Fans have always enjoyed Masterson’s performance, but folks on the Internet decided to bash the actress on social media for her appearance this season.
‘Swear’ was the first episode of season seven that has featured Tara, and trolls were lining up to point out the actress’ apparent weight gain. These unkind words began to flood social media, but Masterson stood up with the best possible response.
Alanna Masterson gave birth to a daughter, Marlowe, just before this season began filming. Instead of taking time off, the actress stepped up to the challenge, and filmed her action scenes anyway.
To prove that these trolls were in the wrong, and that love conquers all in our world, the actress posted a beautiful picture. Not of herself, but of her darling baby girl.
In her message on Instagram, Masterson used her words to put these trolls in their place, as well as encourage kindness and love throughout the world. It may be clear that sexism and bigotry are still running wild throughout our world, but people like Alanna Masterson are ready to fight these issues with an open heart.
If you didn’t think Tara was a bad-ass before, there’s no way this didn’t change your mind.
When the second class citizens of the world stand with each other, not against each other, that’s how you change the world.

Amazon's new series Good Girls Revolt, set in 1969, was inspired by a landmark gender bias case at Newsweek. Showrunners hired women at every level of the cast and crew — a Hollywood rarity.
Women and men gathered downtown today for SlutWalk LA, protesting sexual injustice, victim blaming, derogatory labeling, and gender inequality.
Stop telling women what to wear.
Stop telling them to cover their body or uncover it.
Egyptian lawmakers want women to prove their virginity before allowing them to go to college
As if the SATs weren’t enough, Egyptian Parliament Elhamy Agina says he wants to see all women interested in attending college in his country pass an additional, far more invasive examination: a mandatory “virginity test." He also has previously advocated for female genital mutilation citing a bizarre, sexist reason.
man, teenaged girls aren’t allowed to have a genuine interest in anything without being ridiculed for it. if a girl likes ugg boots and starbucks she’s stupid and stereotypical, but if she likes combat boots and obscure coffee houses she’s a hipster wannabe and is trying too hard. if a girl listens to boy bands and other popular artists she’s a dumb follower, if she reads comics or plays video games she’s a poser/fake geek girl, if she likes sex she’s a slut but if she doesn’t like sex she’s a prude, if she wears makeup she’s fake but if she doesn’t wear makeup she’s a slob, if she has low self-esteem she needs to learn to love herself but if she has high self-esteem she’s overconfident and vain, if she’s interested in politics she’s a crazy social justice warrior but if she prefers to stay out of social matters she’s a dumb airhead. girls are literally mocked for every single thing they like or do, no matter what those things are, and i’m really really sick of it.

I submitted this art piece for Amber Rose’s Slutwalk. I wasn’t able to get a booth this year, maybe next year I will be a vendor.
I wanted to create a piece with dark skin, as dark skin is rarely showcased in the kawaii style of art. In fact, dark skin is often ridiculed….I wanted to create something that takes a stand against slut shaming and create something where dark skin is celebrated. I really hope you guys like this piece! 💜✨
Let’s hope this piece is chosen to be showcased at Slutwalk! I’m so happy to reveal what else I have planned for Kink Kult! 💋
I’m tired of seeing educated people who consider themselves feminists mock and hate on girls for choosing slutty Halloween costumes.
For many women I’ve known who live more conservative lifestyles than I do, Halloween is the only chance they get each year to manifest that sort of overt sexuality. They can express themselves however they want with their clothes and makeup, just for a day, however dramatically they choose, letting their inner freak-flag fly without having to worry about transgressing the cultural norms that govern their daily choices, and without risking judgement from various people in their lives. And I don’t understand why it’s so laughable, why these poor girls end up being the butt of so many jokes. Because I think it’s awesome that they have the chance at all.
We live in this weird paradoxical society where women are told on every billboard, magazine, and TV advertisement that we should want to look like Victoria’s Secret models, that “sexiness” means lace and straps and bare legs and cleavage and heavy makeup… but we also mock and demonize anyone who actually chooses to present herself as half-naked and sultry, calling her morality and even her worth as a woman into question.
But a Halloween costume is a loophole. On Halloween, you can pretend to be whoever you want. Is it really so shocking that girls choose to use this opportunity to feel extra sexy and desirable, the one time a year they can easily do so without the burden of societal shame?
Not everyone is a social justice warrior who has the energy to vocally rally against the corporate machine of unrealistic beauty standards. Not everyone is in a life situation where they can say “Fuck your slut shaming. I’ll wear what I fucking want, every god damned day.” Some women are shy, are timid, are conservative. Some women’s freedoms to express themselves physically are restricted by jobs and family. Does that mean they should never get to explore what makes them feel hot?
Screw that. Laughing at a girl for wanting to dress as a sexy tavern wench or a Playboy Bunny is just as anti-feminist as any other form of slut shaming. And it’s not cool.
There’s nothing wrong with exploring your sexuality. It hurts no one, if you decide to wear fishnets and a body suit as a part of your costume. There’s nothing WRONG with enjoying playing dress up and being a sexy kitten. There’s nothing wrong with being a sexy vampire so you can know how awesome it feels to see yourself in a satin corset. If this is your chance to feel confident being sexy and saucy, then fucking take it. And don’t let haters get you down.
Watch: Faith’s school lectured girls about makeup and “sexy selfies,” so she shut them all the way down.

Donald Trump slut shames Alicia Machado, continuing sexist attacks against her
Donald Trump on Friday embarked on an early-morning Twitter rant against former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, calling her “disgusting” and encouraging Americans to “check out” a sex tape Machado allegedly appeared in. Cable news hosts were dumbfounded by Trump’s rant — particularly his third, even more vicious tweet.
What it’s like to be slut-shamed when buying birth control
Even when pharmacists do let people access contraception, whether emergency contraception or condoms or prescription birth control pills, the process isn’t always free of judgment. In a series of recent online discussions, people across the country have begun to share stories of the stigma they’ve experienced. As many have pointed out, this can be especially damaging to teens.
