So there is a sea Goddess who has a prophecy about her, Any child born to her will be greater than the father. (Fuck yeah Sea Goddess Alicia)

And even mortals tend to avoid her because it, but then Bad Bob (favorite mortal of the gods, one of the best fighters ever to live, ect.) falls in love with her. He doesn’t really care about the prophecy, if it means his child will do great things.

We’re ignoring some key parts of the actual story bear with me

So Jack is born and the first prophecy about him, not as just the child of his mother, is that he will be the greatest warrior of this generation and all generations past.

So Bad Bob trains him, as much as he can, but never lets anyone else watch him train.

In the meantime, Bob and Alicia foster exiles and orphans, hoping one day Jack will find a friend

The first person Jack picks from the boys is an orphan named Kent

they do everything together, and he is the First person to see Jack fight

and he starts training with jack

But he can never quite keep up, Jack is the son of a Goddess after all

And it doesn’t matter at first, they are just happy to be around each other

But Kent starts to get Jealous™ of Jack and they get In a huge fight over what Kent says he hasn’t had work a day in his life for, even though he knows thats not true

They make up eventually but its never really the same. Eventually Kent leaves to go fight for an army, leaving Jack alone in his Castle surrounded by strangers

Kent Leaving Devastates Jack, and he doesn’t speak to anyone for weeks.

Whats the Goddess Alicia’s solution??? Adopt and foster so many friends for Jack.

But he doesn’t really get close to any of them

Until a Prince from a small southern country is sent up because his father wants him to stop acting like a bakers a boy with how much time he spends in the kitchens trained to fight

really he’s just worried because Prince Erics personal guards had to spend a couple hours looking for him one night

the King himself found him sobbing in a maids closet

he just wants his boy safe

after all, he’ll  have to lead these people someday

Prince Eric never quite fits in with the other foster kids, so he spends a lot of time by himself

Until Jack, THE PRINCE JACK, starts to take an interest in him

he sees how quick Eric is, and how his fighting style could be so complementary to his own

they reluctantly train together

jack is worried he wont live up to the prophecy without help

eric is worried his father wont let him come home unless he improves as fighter

but then they learn more about each-other, their hopes and fears, and eric teaches jack to bake honey pie, and jack teaches eric how to paint

eventually they both get good enough at training, and King Bob sends them to the mountain tops to tutor under the centaur

They finally kiss after one of the Kings visits to see if they are progressing with their studies

it is still right after they are informed of the war they must fight

but this time they fight together right off the bat, no island of betrayal and heartbreak
