She got burned by her last marriage, with her ex cheating and having children with his affair partner. But at least she had divorce as an option. There is no such thing as divorce in Westeros, it's literally "till death do us part". And even if a man would succeed in getting the Faith to grant him an annulment( low chance), there are no laws for spousal/child support, or keeping the legitimacy of children.

I believe the reason for Anicia ultimately accepting Baelor's proposal would be children. She was a loving mother, and I'm sure she would want to have children again with a man she loves. If children are born outside of marriage they are considered bastards, and she wouldn't want that burden on them. Also, Baelor is expected to have a wife and more spares, and she would feel guilty for keeping him from getting that.

annie def has some complicated feelings when it comes to children. egg and enid are fine bc they’re kinda grown, but any child who’s around rosies age (or even babies) is a lot harder for her to be around.

it’s not that she dislikes children. quite the opposite, actually. she loves kids. it’s just tied to a lot of trauma.

before the crash, she wanted all of that for herself. she wanted to refind someone, build a life and have a family of her own. she was actually on the path to doing exactly that before everything was taken from her. so being confronted with children, especially ones that remind her of what she lost, can bring up a lot of complicated emotions.

About your last comment of Bealor discovering the truth of the magic path.

I know Anicia and Bealor will have a long talk regarding what happened when he was in coma and her tortures was unjust and unfair because in the end she saved him from certain death (the magic helps in the healing process, but Anicia let this happen, avoiding the "brain explosion").

I got all the religious motivation and beliefs, the septons consider magic a bad thing, Bealor is a pious religious man, a lot of things are sin, eccetera.

I understand for this generation magic is a distance thing, the dragons don't fly in the sky anymore, incestuous thing is less present, but Shiera Seastar and Brynden manipulate magic (in different way, but it's magic)

I am the first to believe that everyone has the right to have their say, including on matters of health

But one Bealor was in coma (Anicia could ask him nothing, so as a doctor she did what she thought was just), second Anicia was nearly killed and Maekar was clear if his brother had died, she would have been executed...

And last: Why could he be not grateful he lives? He is young, he has a family that loves him and he loves them, he has 2 sons to educate, a whole life ahead!

Setting aside my rant, I’m sure that, as a writer – and given that you write so beautifully (capturing emotions, feelings, perceptions and moods, it feels like I am in the story too) – you’ll be able to convey all this perfectly and i will read greedily!

okaayyyyy so here’s a better explanation because i couldn’t really fit everything into a comment and a lot of it gets into spoiler territory.

the issue isn’t that baelor finds out she saved him and suddenly goes “omg, thank you, i love you even more.” it’s much more complicated than that.

yes, he’s grateful to be alive. ofc he is. but at the same time, he learns that she saved him through blood magic and that’s where things get messy.

ppl often forget that just bc the targaryens have a history with magic doesn’t mean they’re comfortable with it. by this point, magic is viewed with suspicion, and the people who can get away with being associated with it (people like shiera or bloodraven) have protections that anicia simply doesn’t have. they’re targaryens. they’re nobles and have influence. they’re powerful.

anicia is none of those things.

if word ever got out that she used blood magic, the court would tear her apart. she’s already an outsider & already a target. this would only make things worse. but honestly, that’s not even the main reason baelor gets upset.

the real problem is the secrecy.

they had already established that they would be honest with each other. they promised to communicate, and yet she kept something enormous from him for like … a while. from his perspective, it isn’t just the magic… it’s the fact that she never trusted him enough to tell him the truth.

and baelor isn’t stupid. the moment he learns what happened, he’s immediately going to start asking questions.

“what did it cost?” “what did you give up?” “what are the consequences?”

nobody in westeros believes powerful magic comes for free.

the problem is that anicia can’t answer those questions without revealing things she’s spent awhile hiding aka her being from another world. not just about herself, but about enid and the other people who came from her world. telling baelor the whole truth doesn’t just put her at risk — it potentially puts everyone else at risk too.

and that’s where the conflict comes from.

and so baelor gets pet up and frustrated bc of this, bc she won’t tell him the whole truth of it.

it’s not really about the magic itself. it’s about trust, secrets, fear and the realization that the person you love has been carrying a truth so big that it changes everything.

seriously tho, when baelor eventually finds out what she actually did to save him (that she used blood magic and made a pact to bring him back) it’s going to be angsty as hell.

and the best part is that this happens long after baelor learns what maekar did to anicia and gets angry at him for it. then he finds himself in the uncomfortable position of realizing that, in a way, maekar wasn’t entirely wrong.

not for the reasons maekar thought, of course, but still.

I’m mainly impressed no one’s told him yet, but Anicia is sure (like we all are) that she is very firmly caught up in Baelor’s web. She knows he cares, though she cannot understand why (internalized class structures that aren’t totally dissimilar to the structures we have now) and him caring about her being thrusted into the center of familial strife….. I personally really wouldn’t like to be the cause of a rift between two royal brothers… or the implications of that in court and to their father (THE KING). She wasn’t being difficult when she grilled Baelor on how much he’d be willing to bite off politically to deal with her - and it’s important to mention that it will always affect her more than him. Her headspace is valid.

i absolutely love it when ppl tell me they like my original characters bc, honestly, every time i write about them, there’s always a part of me that’s worried readers are just waiting to get back to baelor and anicia.

sometimes i wonder if people are skimming through their scenes just to get to the main pairing, so it genuinely makes me so happy when someone gets invested in my ocs and their stories too.

i put a lot of thought, love and suffering into those characters, so seeing readers care about them means more than i can explain.

if baelor had survived, i think it would have been completely logical for dunk to enter his service.

one of dunk’s biggest goals has always been to find a place where he belongs and serve a lord he can genuinely respect. and out of all the princes, baelor is probably the one who earned that respect the most.

after all, baelor was willing to risk his reputation, challenge members of his own family and stand up for a common-born man. from dunk’s perspective, that says a lot about his character. very few highborn lords would have done the same, let alone a prince and heir to the throne.

that’s why i think the scene where dunk essentially tells baelor, “i’m your man” is so important. even before anything official could happen, dunk had already made his choice in his heart. he’d found someone he believed was worth following.

so if baelor had lived, i genuinely think dunk would have sworn himself to his service. it feels like the natural direction their relationship was heading. baelor would have gained one of the most loyal knights in the realm and dunk would have finally found a lord whose values matched his own.
