Declan: Then what could it possibly mean? How could there be so much meaning behind one miniature picture?

Brennan: You don't think getting my ass kicked makes me deserve a hot dog too? What's wrong with you? I think he could squish me. Yeah. Maybe now you'll put some respect on my name.

Brennan: Get new advice.

Harper: We've talked about this, you don't need any more hot dogs. How much time do you have? I think he could too and still look great doing so. Should I put a checkmark by your name on my phone too?

Brennan: You wouldn't? Seriously? Are you heartless? Maybe Jason Momoa, more trendy. I don't want to flex on you, but I got a blue check, I'm kind of a big deal, I stand out.

Brennan: No.

Harper: Maybe just a little heartless, i think if you come out of it without a bruised face you deserve a hot dog. Oh no you don't stand a chance. On both Twitter and Instagram? Sorry I didn't know I was talking to someone who's been verified, wow.

Declan: You mean there's a meaning behind it other than putting on nail polish...?

Brennan: I'd rather keep my face intact for now, Sly doesn't have enough cache. Oh, well she probably got food poisoning.

Brennan: How's a boy to know how much he needs?

Harper: I mean I wouldn't get a hot dog for someone with a bruised face. Maybe try Schwarzenegger? I'm sure that's what happened or maybe her DMs are just flooded and it got lost.

Declan: Hey, I'm old but I'm not that old that I'm living in the dark ages! I think I could understand a simple emoji.

Declan: Honestly, you don't need to keep apologizing Harper. Things come up all the time.

Declan: Like I said, it's fine. As long as she gets better, that should be your top priority. I wouldn't expect you to work and leave her on her own.

Harper: You're the best boss ever.

“Well of course, have you seen her? How could you not.” Kyson handed Harper another napkin for safe measure, “Nah I think you’re in it for the long haul at this point. Town is too small to drop her at the hospital or firehouse.”

“You’re sweet,” Harper noted taking what he offered before finally being done and pulling Ruthie on to her lap. “Now I just have to wait until she turns eighteen until then I’m stuck with her.” HEr words teasing of course as she said them with a small laugh. 

Brennan: He'd still kick my sorry ass. Wait what? You're accusing me of ghosting you?

Brennan: Who's Brennen?

Harper: It'd be a great story to tell. NO I'm saying Taylor is ruder than me!

Brennan: I really believe I could beat up Sly Stallone too. Seems rude. That you're giving me the space I need.

Harper: He's getting older now so I think if you get him from an angel you might have a chance. I mean I'm not the one who ghosted you after agreeing to a drink.

“Yeah, exactly,” she nodded. “She’s adorable. Good on her for starting her fashion career early.” 

“Well thank you, but for right now I’m just hoping she stays clean long enough for us to make it home.”

Willow: Still, don't you want to get a new one anyway. And just not deal with the hassle?

“I think she did the best that she could, right kid?” He looked at the ice cream covered mongrel next to him who looked like she was just on cloud nine. “Yeah that’s what I thought. At least your life is never going to be boring, right?”

“You’re encouraging her,” Harper laughed in response at the smile beaming from Ruthie who just clapped her hands. “Yeah boring is the last thing I’d call life with her but I wouldn’t really have it any other way. No take-backs now” 

“I know you would’ve. You’ve always been one of our best staff members around here.” He nodded. Probably why he’d allowed her to bring in Ruthie to work although he did have some concerns how she’d be able to do her job with the child but they did seem to have found a way around it. “No, it’s fine. Flexibility is an important role in being a good manager and I love kids. Besides, I don’t have too much going on in my schedule today.” Declan reassured. 

“Well thank you, I appreciate that.” Having her work ethic being recognized was something that she was happy about, even if it was something that she was forced to find out later in life. “She really shouldn’t be that much trouble, she’s gonna nap soon and then if it gets to the point that she is getting too fuzzy or if you want her off your hands I’ll have my walkie on me.” It wasn’t that she didn’t trust him with her daughter, it was more so she knew when Ruthie had her fits and what toy she liked best to calm down. “Again are you sure about this?” She handed him the baby bag almost giving him an out on the offer he had just made. 

Brennan: Because that's the way meet and greets work. Taylor Swift agreed to a drink with me, never answered my DM. If that's what you were doing you would have worded that differently.

Harper: no I really think he meant it.

Brennan: He would have agreed with anything you said. Why you gotta word it like that?

Brennan: Oh I'm not though. It's embarrassing having this discussion. I don't think I need your energy in my life.
