I just thought about all the references to time travel in season 5 and lost my mind again. Not just s5, they started setting it up in at least S3 with the Back To The Future conversation. The flux capacitor joke, driving through the gate at 88mph, the clocks, the minute hand moving backwards in Henry's visions, Sarah fvcking Connor Linda Hamilton... And then, nothing.

The wasted potential is maddening.

During the press tour for S5, an interviewer asked the core four what advice they'd give young actors today. They all agreed that "don't have social media" was good advice. After the reaction to Finn's SNL appearance, I think we understand why.

The best thing about conformity gate is that we're right either way.

If there are more episodes, we were right.

If there aren't any more episodes, all the signs still point to the fact that Vecna won. The epilogue is still jarring and Truman-Show-esque. There are still a hundred inconsistencies and unfinished plot threads. Character arcs were still abandoned and/or obliterated. We're still right.

In one scenario, the Duffers are in on it; they made it happen by design. The other is down to us. We made it. We noticed the inconsistencies and plot holes, we saw the unanswered questions, and we took that void and filled it with analysis and theories and our own creativity.
