The MCYT community has a long standing tendency to overlook women creators, especially when it comes to shipping. Thomas and Gray could have the exact same interactions as Thomas and Micro, and I don't think they'd receive anywhere near the same amount of attention. Micro and Gray have played characters who were canonically in love, yet Thomspr is still discussed far more often.
Thomspr became popular largely from Chained Life interactions, and has continued to be heavily supported ever since. Meanwhile, ships involving women creators often receive significantly less attention, even when they have just as much narrative basis.
This isn't meant as an attack on Thomspr or the people who enjoy it. I like the ship myself. I just think it's worth acknowledging women creators and their dynamics being consistently underappreciated within the community.
Can I be so fr? I HATE DaD Thomspr. Grayleigh would KILL Thomas if he made a move on her man.
But like on the low, from what I've seen of DaD Thomspr, it's always based on Thomas rather than Micro and his intricate story with his found family. If Grayleigh doesn't get to Thomas first, he's literally getting locked out of the house by an angsty teen, a tired lesbian, a mysterious blind girl, or an old war vet. There's too many goalies to score that goal.
Towards the end of dad (or what I could watch, I had Earth which I was not skipping to watch dad), I really came to like Grayleigh and Mike's dynamic. They were putting in a lot of legwork to make this a believable and genuine relationship. It evolved from hetslop to hetgem and I believe that is beautiful. (flirting with each other to the point that you want to yell get a room is slop to me, I'm too aroace for this)
Their deaths being about a session apart is highly poetic and Grayleigh's almost made me cry (high marks). Her speech to Rotation's suicidal ass about not letting Mike's death be in vain was heartbreaking especially when everyone knew what was going to happen soon. She grew on me so so much.
Also Meagon had a really good arc in dad, but I'm so sad she wasn’t there for the sessions where Mike and Grayleigh kicked it. She went from accusing Rotation of being infected because he had a cold in the first session to being one of the first ones to notice he was infected. When they held Snowbird's first and last birthday party, she was the first one to ask "what are we going to tell Yumi"
Meagon was openly antagonistic towards Micro and Rotation (but never Yumi, she adored Yumi) in the beginning, but grew to care for them. Like, putting aside her own needs to make anyone in their little found family is fine. Ughghgh she would've killed it if she was there for Grayleigh's final talk with Rotation.
Sorry this just led to me yapping about all the thoughts I had during dad ToT
