Hyperfixating on what i like

Ok so to simplify it a bit, thomas originally wanted to help flux cause he thought flux liked saps (he does) and fluxarata are really close so thomas thought "oh i have no shot in this ok" and he'd much rather have saps be with flux than any other since.. him and flux are besties yknow which means he'd be able to see and interact with saps more

BUT! Because it seems like he isn't interested in saps + he is one saps' close friends and hes a pretty chill guy, a lot of people come to him to consult on what they should do and whether their ideas are good or not. Which is honestly pretty perfect for thomas

He intentionally does not tell them that some of their plans clash with one another. Like for example: Schpood had a plan to watch a play while ish had a plan to watch a movie on the same day, Thomas intentionally does not inform either of them. He broke saps' tire so he couldn't go to a sparring date that turntapp offered him. He reminded saps of deadlines and group projects so he refuses Turkey's offer to go to the bar. He made flux pay all reservations in a restaurant that kanukei was planning to take saps to and so on so forth

He doesn't want them to clock his intentions so he helps them and support their ideas, but does just enough to sabotage it. In a subtle way of course. All the while he tries to set fluxarata up together, but flux doesn't like that, flux likes whatever him and saps have going on and he doesn’t want it to change

So all of thomas' attempts falls through and soon enough he gets annoyed with flux over this, like cmon bro, stop being a dumb*ss.

He always has a backup plan for whenever flux fumbles and that backup plan is, of course, himself.

Like one of his attempt was to get saps and flux go to a carnival date by tricking flux into thinking it was a group hang out and to saps that flux wanted to hang together. Only for flux to not show up at all and thomas does not have the heart to leave saps hanging like that (especially after saps has waited 30 minutes all by himself looking lore dejected as more time went by). So instead, him and saps hung out and had a blast in the carnival

And at first, in a way to get back at flux for devaluing his efforts. He took saps away from him (both to teach him a lesson and to also satisfy his wants) but flux does....nothing, he just has a blank look and thomas KNOWS flux is mad at him but now hes starting to doubt if flux ever actually liked saps and hes just been wrong

So he waits for flux to say anything but he just...doesn't...and at some point, thomas hopes flux never says anything. Cause he doesn't want to lose this. He likes being with saps, is he really just going to give that up just because flux finally realized his gay dumb*ss?

One thing to know is that thomsaps don't immediately become a couple, they're not that overtly affectionate. But they are committed and they are loyal. In fact, thomas originally didn't even offer them to become boyfriends, instead he just asked to maybe see their hang outs as more than just that, suggesting the Dating option but not having to label themselves as anything. And thats what they were for a while, a gradual small thing that soon enough became a relationship filled with commitment

When saps and thomas got together, nothing changed in their dynamic, they were still "Thomas" and "Saps" and its that natural genuineness that makes them work together so well. So when a proposal were to happen

It was a natural sweet thing

It wasn't anything grand or a big proposal that most would've done it. But a simple:

"Would you want to marry some day?"

"I'd like to settle down yea"

"Would you want that with me?"

And the rest was history.

But...

Dear Thomas,

I hope this letter finds you in good fortune. It has come to my attention that you are going to marry your soon-to-be-partner, my best friend, Saps.

All I can say is, I hope you treat him well, for I was the owner of his heart care for many years and soon, his heart will be yours. I will miss him dearly, but I know your heart is true, and if all the years we have known each other have shown me is genuine, I know he will be loved.

I will always remember how he smelled of lemongrass and sleep, how he tasted like apple juice and peach. But now, I will only find him in my polaroid pictures.

For he is now yours.

The hand clutching the paper smoothen its hold, having to remind himself to be gentle and not ruin the letter. The owner of the hand was in udder disbelief.

"You...you liked Saps?"

"..."

"Why didn't you say anything?"

"It wouldn't have changed anything, Snowbird–"

"wouldn't hav– it would have actually. He loved you, maybe not in what you'd hope... but he would've loved you."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"I just– I don't understand why you didn't say anything, and now... now you're hoping for me to give Thomas this on his big day?"

"Why is that a big deal?"

"You can't be serious, you want to give Thomas this, knowing full well he'll feel guilty about—"

"He won't cancel—"

"He won't. You're right. But he still loves you like a brother and he'll feel guilty regardless. You know he'll feel bad for stealing Saps away from you for the rest of his life."

"Oh please.. if anything, he'll tease me about it."

"He will, there is no denying that, but there is a reason Thomas paired you up with Saps so much all those years ago."

"that- why are you interrogating me, when you should be questioning him about that. Why did he even do that if he liked Saps?"

"Saps made you happy. He liked Saps sure, but he didn't want—he... its not my place to say..."

"Then why ask Saps out at all, hmm?"

"You never showed any signs, so Thomas let his feelings grow. When you refuse the sun's light, another plant blooms, Flux."

"You let it blossom and thrive, Flux."
