Edgar Ende born Edgar Karl Alfons Ende (1901 - 1965), in Altona, Germany, remains to be very much considered to be among the first German surrealist painters, after Max Ernst.  The pictures of Edgar Ende, which are depictions of dream worlds, evoke surreal worlds of experience in a romantic setting.  The figurative set-up, is geared at the real world, yet it is then alienated to an extent that forces the observer to come up with his own interpretation.  Ende’s realm of images has no logic at first.  It suggests emotions, not allowing interpretations, despite the inferred references. This makes for an air of mystery, which seems to await its direct or indirect final decryption.
