Their voice is soft even as they slide a serrated knife beneath Whumpee’s skin, methodically drawing out screams. Between rounds, they crouch on their heels as if calming a scared child, tilting their head to peer underneath a sweaty curtain of hair.

trigger warnings: description of abuse, dehumanization, nonsexual nudity and blood

physical restraints (chains, handcuffs, straightjacket, strapping them down to the bed by their wrists and ankles, etc)

I should just mention that straightjacket is one of my personal favorites

electroconvulsive therapy aka shock therapy

force feeding (via a plastic tube through their nose or mouth into their stomach)

shock collar

being forcefully shoved and held down to the ground, cheek against the cold floor

ice pick lobotomy

character getting stripped against their will

strong jets of water assaulting the character’s skin through a hose as a way to clean them

rough handling from the orderlies results in the character getting bruises all over their skin

waterboarding

getting their nails trimmed so they can’t hurt themself or others

character getting put into a hospital gown against their will is so underrated, actually

intubation against the character’s will — bonus if the character is still somewhat conscious

doses of anesthetic into the character’s bloodstream via an injection or through an iv drip to render them unconscious so that they can’t hurt themself or others

when the character is so drugged out of their mind that they’re too groggy to fight or struggle as things are being done to them; they’re half conscious still, they just can’t fight, even though they’re not restrained physically

blood draws — bonus if it gots to the point the character feels dizzy, cold and generally disoriented from losing too much blood

maybe whumper gets whumpee addicted to any sort of drug. whumpee feels trapped, like they can't leave whumper. maybe if they're bad, whumpee doesn't get their fix, and has to deal with withdrawal, and is just *desperate* to feel normal again.

if whumpee is rescued, especially when caretaker doesn't know about the drugs or even what type---it takes a bit to realize this isn't just illness, but withdrawal. maybe they have to scramble to find the right drug before whumpee's body gives up.

whumpee is miserable---sweating, shaking, nauseous. they give up on trying to eat because they can't keep anything down. they can't sleep.

so when whumpee is rescued and they can’t get access to this drug, they very rapidly fall into withdrawal symptoms— the pounding in their brain gets louder and louder with every hour, they get vivid, agonizing flashbacks, terrible migraines, just nothing but unrelenting torture and misery whirling about in their own head and they can’t do anything about it at all.

all caretaker can do is watch helplessly as whumpee deteriorates rapidly, shaking, trembling, shivering from all the symptoms, clawing at their own skin out of desperation for anything, anything to drown out this mental torment, even instinctively bashing their head against any hard surface they can reach in an attempt to recreate the numbness only that drug could bring.

So, what's the deal? Aren't they interchangeable?

Well, no! Though they can be similar in some ways.

Anesthesia

Good ol "knock out the character" drug. It induces unconsciousness, but will not reduce pain, and doesn't make our character sleepy weirdly enough, or unresponsive to being touched. If you stabbed an anesthetized character, they would still reflexively flinch back. They also won't be truly sleepy, though it will feel like it when they wake up, but that's ultimately just their body fighting off the agent.

Analgesic

This is what you REALLY want when a character's anesthetized. Analgesics are also known as painkillers, so we could stab a character under analgesics and they wouldn't feel anything more than pressure.

Sedation

This one's the sleepy one. It calms and soothes, and though it's possible to fall asleep with it, it's more likely to leave our favorite character pleasantly dazed, but still awake, aware, and feeling pain.

Paralytic

This one's the one that stops movement during surgery, since as mentioned before, our character could still move around, even when unconscious. This is NOT anesthesia, and even if a character is completely unable to move, they are still highly conscious and acutely aware of what pain they're in. Nothing's scarier than being unable to move and feeling a blade bite into you, especially when everyone's oblivious.

I’ve been writing a novel about some characters with some powers, and I thought I’d share those powers if anyone needs inspiration for their own characters !!

I tried to make sure each one isn’t entirely overpowered and if it is it has major drawbacks. I also wanted them to be unique, and to my knowledge none of them are copied from already existing characters. Hope these help with anything you may be writing!!

trigger warnings: medical whump, gore, blood, sadism, non-consensual drug use, non-consensual procedure being performed on whumpee

whumpee is used as a lab rat. whumper keeps drawing blood from whumpee to the point whumpee becomes lightheaded and is on the verge of passing out from blood loss alone.

whumper permanently maiming / branding whumpee whether it be their name engraved into whumpee’s body with a knife, or their slashing whumpee’s face from the corners of whumpee’s mouth to their ears to give them a “permanent smile” Joker style.

whumper monitoring whumpee’s heart, their blood pressure and such, and enjoying how the sign and the frantic beeping indicate that whumpee is either going into shock or about to have a panic attack.

whumper makes sure whumpee is awake during the procedure (a surgery or a vivisection).

whumper strapped whumpee’s head in place and forced whumpee’s eyes open with his tool, so that whumpee is forced to watch what’s being done to their body, how whumper slowly peels off a layer of whumpee’s skin with the smallest, sharpest scalpel.

during these procedures, whumper cuts open whumpee’s stomach and whumpee can feel whumper’s hands touching their internal organs. if whumpee is in a position where they’re strapped to the table and is lying on their back, whumper makes sure to install a mirror on the ceiling above whumpee, so that whumpee — with their eyes forced open — can see their own body being cut open and their own innards being toyed with.

he knows whumpee’s anatomically limits, how to keep whumpee alive and awake throughout the whole thing.

sometimes he cuts whumpee with a scalpel, but it’s a small cut all over whumpee’s body: legs, arms, back, etc. deep enough to make whumpee bleed, but not enough to be life-threatening.

whumper deliberately keeps whumpee in an unsanitary enclosure to make sure whumpee’s wounds slowly become infected. this won’t kill whumpee, because whumper will always swoop in with just the right medicine and treatment that will save whumpee’s life in the very last minute. but whumper takes great pleasure in watching whumpee slowly spiking fever and being delirious as they become severely septic.

or whumper will drug whumpee with various substances throughout various occasions: sometimes it results in whumpee’s hallucinations, the worst fear whumpee has and it gets whumpee screaming in horror the entire night. sometimes it also results in sleep deprivation where whumpee is severely exhausted but is forced to remain awake for days on end as whumper keeps injecting the drug into whumpee’s system to prevent whumpee from falling asleep.

another of whumper’s favorite is force-feeding. whumpee may be starving, but they fight and struggle fruitlessly every time whumper inserts tubes down their nostrils in which nutrients and god knows what are forced into their body.

body horror, body horror, body horror (did I mention body horror?). let whumper have his imagination run wild by cutting off whumpee’s limb and attaching it to another part of whumpee’s own body? or… maybe whumper can have fun with some experiment where he attaches a part of an animal or a plant (or any living organism) to whumpee’s body and sees how it grows by letting it feed off of whumpee’s blood and other nutrients from whumpee’s body.

“you look good in red, whumpee.”

“red suits you well.”

“keep still.”

“struggling with only make this hurt more.”

“see? that wasn’t so painful, was it?”

“relax, this is only going to hurt a lot. don’t worry though, I’ll make sure you’re awake and aware of it all.”

“anesthetic? now why would you ask me for such a thing? you’d rather be unconscious and miss out all the fun we were going to have together? how very rude of you. it’s almost like you’re begging me for another round of punishment, hmm.”

“you sleep when I say you can, understood?”

“your blood, it looks just the right shade of red today. this is rather impressive.”

“I am squeezing your lung in my hand right now, and believe me when I tell you how soft it is. if I only add a tiny bit more pressure, it will explode right here in my hand. would you like to see what that would do to your body?”

bonus: movies and shows with this trope as a main focus (the ones I can think of off the top of my head), but keep in mind that all of these include scenes and topics that can be heavily triggering to some. so if you haven’t seen them yet and want to check them out, please make sure you do your research beforehand about what material you’re about to expose yourself to.

The crack of the whip? Whispered threats of horror unending? Is it the slither of steel and the sight of their own crimson blood dripping to the floor?

How many times do you have to kick them to make them stay down? Once? Twice? A hundred times? Do it. And then kick them when they’re down to drive the point home.

Are they on their knees, begging for the smallest of mercies, like the dog they are? Or are they still defiant? With bared teeth and bleeding lips, do they curse at you still?

Still defiant, hm.

Perhaps they need a bit more incentive.

Drag in their loved ones. The ones they thought they saved.

Hold a knife to the lover’s throat. A gag in their sibling’s mouth. Beat their best friend unconscious.

See how long they remain defiant. Watch the biting curses falter and turn to sobbing. If they won’t beg for themselves, maybe they’ll beg to save the ones they love.

Once they start to beg, screaming for it to stop, crying for the ones they can no longer save, remind them this is all their fault.

Tell them that the others would still be alive if it wasn’t for their defiance.

Have they finally shattered beyond repair? Excellent.

There’s no coming back from the sobbing wreck they are. They’re throwing up and screaming but do you see the burning? It’s in their eyes still.

“Hm?” Whumper’s eyes look up from their book and land on the trembling figure of whumpee in front of them. He looks…troubled.

“I-I-I mean I,um,belong to y-you…right master?” He’s fidgeting his fingers nervously, trying to find the right words.

“Ofcourse, whumpee. Where is this coming from?”

“S-s-so you’re not gonna leave me? O-or give me away to others?” He sounds like he’s on the verge of tears. Whumper sets the book aside and walks up to him to hold his blushing cheeks in their palms.

“I didn’t spend this long training my sweet pet just to give it away.”

A look of pure relief washes down whumpee’s face and his puppy-eyes pop out - the eyes he makes everytime he has something to ask and he wants to beg for it nicely.

“I promise, promise, I’ll be good. And obedient. I’ll be the best pet for you master a-and I’ll take whatever pain you, uh, give me like a good boy.” He sounds genuine. Whumper only smiles in response.

“Is this about last night?”

Whumpee averts his gaze, which means they were on point. They take his chin between their fingers and force him to make eye contact again. He nods his head shyly.

“I don’t appreciate how my friends exchange their pets either.”

“I-i-i-it’s just- they’re scary and it just seems like- like-“ whumper shushes him with a thumb on his lips before he could ramble on anymore.

“I just wanna be yours master.” He says in the cutest voice he’s ever made.

Whumper tugs at his collar, as if to make a point.

“You are. Mine. Forever.”
