“Lazy Afternoons” is what plays when Roxas is in Twilight Town. It’s Roxas’ experience with the town. It’s Roxas’ home. Where he spent each day with Axel and Xion, where he lived his brief, false life with Hayner, Pence, and Olette. It’s comfort and familiarity and welcome, and that’s what the music sounds like.

Then there’s Sora’s experience with Twilight Town. For Sora, it’s more like a liminal space. Because of his connection to Roxas, Twilight Town is familiar, and yet it’s completely alien. It draws him in, and yet he doesn’t belong. It’s lovely, but almost too much so. Uncannily so. And you can feel that in “The Afternoon Streets”, which is so much less certain, less grounded. It almost feels like a fairytale. You wake up in Twilight Town in KH2, and you can immediately feel that something’s…off. You, as the player controlling Sora, know where everything in the town is, including the secluded Usual Spot, which means that Sora knows where everything is, but he doesn’t know why. The song really carries that feeling.

I love the fact that they’re completely different songs. That they’re not just remixes of each other. There are Roxas’ feelings about the town, and there are Sora’s feelings about the town, and they’re completely different. Just like Roxas and Sora are completely different people, despite being so intimately connected.

And if you’re not sold on why those two songs are different, why there isn’t just one Twilight Town song even in the same game, there is one instance where, while playing as Sora, you hear “Lazy Afternoons” instead of “The Afternoon Streets”, and that’s when you’re exploring the version of the world that was explicitly made from Roxas’ memories in Chain of Memories.

Are people scared that using a white cane will make their blind character seem weak? They can’t use a cane because they’re so special that they already know what’s around them, and other blind people who use guides are inferior because they’re not special?

I’m tired. Give your blind characters white canes and other guides. Let them hold onto their friends, let them have guide dogs. Don’t make white cane users feel ostracized for not being “strong enough” to go without.

Another thing that pisses me off is when a sighted character comes up with the fantasy equivalent of braille and teaches it to the blind character. Braille was invented by Louis Braille, a blind man, in 1824. The blind character should be the one coming up with it.

Tldr I’m blind and tired of sighted people lol
