Unit 11 // Careers & Progression // Creative CV // Final Design
Final Evaluation
During unit 13 I have explored the impact media and pop culture has on youth and how views and perceptions are perhaps formed and manipulated by this. My project aim was to expand on my own knowledge on this topic and create work to explore some of the issues face within youth culture resulting in a final piece that aims to encourage young people to do the same. My final piece should raise awareness and inform youth of the issues I have explored and encourage them to look deeper into their own lives and experience with these issues. I feel I have stayed focused throughout this project on my intention which has allowed me to meet my project aims successfully.
Throughout my project I have made a number of key creative decisions that have allowed my project to progress and result in a successful outcome. These decisions have been informed and influenced by various sources and have been vital to my project success. The most important of these decisions I feel was the decision to change my original proposed project to the one I have now completed. I felt my first proposed project wasn’t as interesting for me and felt I couldn't take it as far as I needed to create a successful project. The new project aim based on youth culture allowed me to push myself further as an artist/designer and I feel this creative decision was vital to my projects success.
The research I have collected throughout this project has driven my project forward. This research has greatly influenced my creative decisions and my projects development allowing me to create informed outcomes that meet my project aims. I have collected and utilised research from a broad range of sources such as articles, zines, documentary's, videos, music, gallery's etc. I feel this has played a large role in the success of my outcomes giving them strong contextual links.
Some of the key factors of my projects success first of all would be my enthusiasm and interest in the topic. This enabled me to stay consistently motivated and interested in the work I was doing throughout in order to create a body of high quality work. Another key factor is my wide ranging use of development techniques. Through this I learned new skills and techniques which would not only benefit this project but future projects also.
Throughout unit 13 I have planned every aspect of my work thoroughly which I feel was also key to my success. It allowed me to manage the time I had wisely, in order to create outcomes that met my intentions to a high standard. I feel I managed my project wisely and made sure to reflect critically to the work I created as well as responding to feedback given in tutorials and group critiques which drove my project forward.
This project has allowed me to learn new skills within art and design such as how to use the dark room effectively using various techniques which is a skill that I'm sure will benefit me in the future. I have also progressed in my ability to fully plan and execute an art and design project and realise a project that reflects my aims. As well as this I have improved on my research skills using a broad range of resources as well as my reflection skills improving on being more reflective and critical of my work in order to push it further.
Unit 13 // Final Exhibition Space
I have now put up my exhibition space. All that needs adding now is my artist statement.
Unit 13 // Exhibition // Planning
Here is some planning into my final layout for my exhibition including problem solving to make sure my work is displayed in the best way possible in the space available to me.
