Filipino Christmas themed visuals!

For 2015′s True Life Retreat, I headed the marketing and art direction for the theme of Pursuing Passion.

This included the official logo and poster, website + online registration, videos, social media posts, press kits, and merchandise.

When it came to the logo, I hand-lettered it and used the digitized/vectored version for the merch (shirt & tote) designs. My team and I then decided upon the matchstick as the central element of our passion theme. We worked on replicating the logo with hundreds of individual matchsticks glued together, which was then photographed for the main promotional poster. Thereafter we filmed the process of setting it on fire, to use as the opening video shown before each session in the retreat.

I designed the cover and laid out all 160+ pages and text accompanied by vintage fashion illustrations (by Apparel Arts) and fabric texture backgrounds provided by Vitale Barberis Canonico. What results is an elegant e-Book designed for pleasant perusing; compatible with mobile, tablet, and desktop screens.

Since its release it has garnered raving 5-star reviews and a demand of a version to be printed in hardcover format. While not yet in its author’s plans to publish it as a physical copy, I personally think it would make a handsome coffee table book that I would also love to own myself.

In keeping with the rustic / kinfolk-inspired theme of the event, I set out to conceptualize and organically execute this poster with the title lettering styled in twine as well as handwritten details for the date/time/venue. Other table elements were then added and then photographed as a whole.

If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.
