Joshua Michael Bauman, Michigan Inmate 646881, born 1988, incarceration intake May 2021 at age 33, sentenced to life;

Homicide, Home Invasion, Assault

Spent 2 years, 9 months in pre-conviction jail confinement, credit granted towards sentence.  

Authorities say Bauman broke into an apartment and started shooting at a Policeman, who was visiting a 29-year-old woman in Clyde Township, near Port Huron Michigan.

The officer, Joel Wood, 45, a 22-year veteran of the Port Huron Police Department was killed.

Bauman then fled the area but police found him at a gas station about 75 miles from the scene of the crime, a few hours later.

At trial, his ex-wife testified that she feared him.  

A motion for a new trial because of ineffective representation was denied.

Eric John Knysz, Michigan inmate, born 1993, incarceration intake at age April 2015 at age 22, sentenced to life without parole, suicided April 15, 2014 – ten days after sentencing.

Murder

Convicted of murder of a Michigan State Trooper in 2015.  Knysz was pulled over at a traffic stop and he subsequently killed the trooper. He was carrying stolen guns in his car at the time of the traffic stop.   He was sentenced on 04/08/2015. Two days later, he subsequently attempted suicide in state prison reception center for new inmates by hanging himself with a bedsheet..  Ten days after his conviction, he was taken off life support, on 04/18/2015. 

His wife, who was pregnant (and days away from delivery) at the time pleaded guilty to being an accessory and was sentenced to two to five years.
