tw: death/murder mention
Hana was born in Hong Kong to her father, Eun Mun, and her mother, Lena Weber. They moved to Seoul when she was two years old, when her mother was pregnant with her younger siblings - a set of twins set to be named Nabi and Nari. Their life in Seoul was good; her parents did honest work and she was happy.Â
She had just turned three only two weeks before when the police came to her home, her nanny at the time there to watch her, as her parents believed that daycare would stifle her creativity. It was a late night for her nanny, her parents having left for a date night, their last one before the twins were set to be born. They never returned. Murdered, they were told. Mauled to the point of being almost unrecognizable, sheâd find out later.Â
Her uncle, her fatherâs brother, a man that her father had rarely spoken to, but the only living relative to remain from either side of her family, was called on, and he took Hana in. Seok picked her up in Seoul and brought her to Europe, where they moved from house to house, mansion to mansion, never really staying in the same place for long. It took some years for the two of them to adjust to one another - he was rarely around, and she was small, being raised by more hired help than sheâd had before her parents' deaths.Â
She was five when he started training her, saying that he needed to be prepared in order to protect herself and him, the human race as a whole. It didnât take her long to understand that he was training her in order to protect her from the same thing that killed her parents - supernatural creatures, ones that the legends said werenât real, the ones that filled her nightmares and had been since she was young. It had been a rogue vampire that had killed her parents, her unborn siblings, and what her uncle was now training her to kill.Â
Hana moved away, out of her uncleâs home, when she was twenty-two years old. It was against his parental advice (however much of a parent you could be to the man who raised you to be a supernatural killer). Given that they werenât a part of a hunter family, it had always been the two of them, hunting together whether keeping one another safe from harm. But Hana needed something else, something different, away from his uncle. She found that in NYC.Â
While she still hunted from time to time, she has taken a step back from a majority of it. She still has not joined a hunting family, and when sheâs not hunting, she works at a local bookstore. It is a lot calmer and much easier for her than the jobs sheâd had with her uncle, and she finds that she likes it that way. She doesnât have as big of a grudge against supernatural creatures as some other hunters, her uncle included, do. She finds that if theyâre following the rules and they arenât going out of their way to hurt humans and other supernatural creatures, she can leave them alone, at least for the time being. She has even found that she would like to be friends with some of them, if theyâd let her.

âGreatâ she said as she starts walking gesturing for them to walk with her. âhave you ever visited Amsterdam?â she asks and all though the question sounds like itâs come out of know where, its Hanaâs comment about walking in New York city that has her thinking back to her time there.
hana followed her, picking up her pace so it was quick enough to catch up to her in order to walk with her side by side. she looked at anna, eyes raised with mild curiosity. âyes,â she said, nodding her head. âmy uncle and i visited when i was a teenager.â in all honesty, she had followed her uncle there on a mission that heâd been on, but the other didnât need to know that. âi liked it.â what sheâd seen of it. sheâd traveled the world and yet, she felt she had seen nothing of it.Â
â SO THATâS A NO, â  thea snorts, though unsurprised. she can only assume the coworkers in question are men, in which case she canât exactly blame hana for the comment. thereâs a small nod as sheâs given the cashierâs name, lips curling into a smirk when the question gets thrown back at them.  â i mean, if youâre offering, sure, â  theyâre quick to combat, without really thinking about it. but if a pretty girl is offering their number, who is thea to say no ?
hana smirked in amusement, neither confirming nor denying her allegations, because while what she was saying was true, she wasnât going to be caught talking smack about her coworkers if one so happened to come by during the time that she was doing so. raising her eyebrow, she laughed softly, nodding once. she moved and took a sticky note from the desk, grabbing a pen and writing her number down along with her name. âhere,â she said, offering it to the other. âhopefully youâll actually use it.â she smirked and brought her hand back. âand your order is ready to go. it should be in in about a week or so. if not, call the store.âÂ
There were times where Dorian was being real, it wasnât that he pretended to be someone else. However, his true personality was hidden, in pieces separated, scattered. Was he good? bad? guess it depended on the person opposite him, he could lie, but he do so for good reason. Hana was not one of those people that he would say he could mess around with. (both as a friend or even more) , she mattered. He could easily shut himself down, act as if the people around him were nothing but bodies, he found Hana to be the calm waters before a storm, she could perfectly destroy anything in her path, but she controlled the speed of the wind. Of her force, so listening, was something he did when he wanted to hear. he could sense a slight skip in her heartbeat, but wasnât sure if it was because the subject was touchy. He wouldnât blame her. âIf I died today, would you miss me?â he states flatly, not quite what she would expectâthen again he didnât expect to even ask. why did he want to know? he had a piece to hold onto, such as her heart beating to know she was alive. âI know I donât, but I do.. â he then takes a piece of the lemon cake, eating it before drinking his coffee. âWalking you home like a perfect gentleman would be reason enough.â he smiles at her.
hana raised an eyebrow at him, wondering where the hell that question had come from. she wasnât sure if he was being serious or not, only because conversations with dorian didnât seem to ever grow serious in nature. however, the look on his face told her otherwise. if she could read minds, she would use the power to try and figure out what he was thinking. âof course,â she said, her voice quiet as she licked her lips and bit down on her lower lip. she looked down to her cake, picking off a piece and popping it into her mouth for something to do. she chewed while he stole another piece of her dessert. âwalking me home, huh?â she asked, smirking as she looked back at him. âare you trying to get me to bring you back to my place, pierce? i didnât think youâd put out on the first date,â she teased, stepping back from the seriousness of their conversation and turning back to an area that was comfortable for them - easy flirting.Â
â HUH. â  she looks back at the girl, blinking at her for a moment.  â youâre pretty smart. â  spoken like a fact, not a question.  â is that a requirement for people who work in book stores ? â  the question makes thea smirk slightly, as if hanaâs actually asking for her number.  â thea lin, â  they tell her, holding their gaze, as she rattles off her phone number too.  â whatâs your name ? â
she laughed softly. âi appreciate that,â she tells the other, because it was true. hana enjoyed compliments, and she especially enjoyed ones that had nothing to do with her appearance. âi donât know. iâd have to ask my boss. though, i will admit that some of my coworkers barely pass that credential, if there is one.â she typed in the girlâs name, followed by the phone she provided, staring at the screen as she did. âhana,â she told her, turning and giving the other a slight smile. âwant my phone number too?â she teased.Â

Did she really want to go there? to discuss something that she didnât want to touch the subject of. Especially since he knew she didnât want to hear it in the first place. But, she wanted this topic to continue. âLife is fragile, even for a hunter.â his voice almost a whisper. Tomorrow was never guaranteed. He wasnât saying she was fragile, but life can easily be taken now a days. âWould I ever have to worry?, no, you pretty much take care of yourself. Doesnât mean I canât enjoy that sound.â he watched as she took a piece of the lemon cake. Eyes focused on her. Could what he said implied that it was because of her, or at least the knowing just by listening to a heartbeat that she was alive? sure, but he wasnât going to go into detail. Hana could take that however she wanted. âWhy? are you going buy me a cookie?â he states with a smile.
it had taken her quite a bit of time to move past the teaching her uncle had given her, the idea that all supernatural creatures were bad or evil. more than not, she had been proven otherwise. dorian, for example, continuing to disprove her upbringing. but that didnât mean that she wasnât still wary around most of them, only because it is really hard to change what you had always known. and despite her discomfort, she couldnât help the slight tightening of her heart when he said things like he just did. she hoped the beating of her heart stayed the same, as not to alert him. âiâll continue to repeat it until you figure it out, but you donât need to worry about me,â she reminded him gently, smiling at him fondly. she shrugged her shoulders. âperhaps. if you do something to deserve it.âÂ
silas couldnât help the grin that graced his face when she responded. âi guess iâll just have to go with the pretty face option then.â his tone was somewhat sarcastic as he crossed his arms. âeither way, facade or not â would you wanna get drinks sometime?â he needed more people in the city to hangout with.Â
âthat is your right as an american citizen,â she teased further, shrugging her shoulders with an amused smile on her face. of course, she hadnât been kidding about his face. it was a rather pretty one, after all. raising an eyebrow at his question, she nodded her head slowly. âsure,â she told him, moving to take her phone out of her purse and open up the contact app. she turned her phone toward him and nodded down toward it. âmake sure you put your name as silas âpretty faceâ whatever your last name is.âÂ
âPlease, Iâll hold my hands up to the occasional theft but murder? Thatâs not in my repertoire. When it comes to crime I am a one trick pony.â she smiles as she jokes with them. âMy apartment isnât too far, if you donât mind a short walk.â
âtouche,â she said, holding up her hands with an amused smile on her face. little did the other know that hana herself definitely had murder in her repertoire, but she hadnât done so in a very long time. âthis is new york city. of course i donât mind the walk,â she teased.
GABRIELâS NOT ONE TO OPEN UP TO PEOPLE, and it hasnât always been like this. or at least, never as bad. as the big brother, he had been used to be the one that people would go to. now he isnât sure exactly what to do. he sighs, setting the towel to the side as he looks over to hana. âi just have a hard time around this time of year,â he begins, and he runs a hand through his hair, tousling it as he did so. âitâs about to be three years, and i still just⌠i donât know.â he stops himself, shaking his head. itâs difficult for him to express himself, especially about this.Â
hana watched gabriel gently, more so than she ever did with anyone else. her uncle had never taught her to be gentle with people, but she found that it was easy, especially when she cared about the other person like she did gabriel. âiâm sorry,â she said softly, moving to get closer to him, leaning against the counter with the small of her back pressed against the edge of it. âyou shouldnât be so hard on yourself about feeling like you need to âget overâ what happened. from someone who knows better, you canât get over it. you can only... learn to live with it.âÂ
Anna gets it - itâs kind of the same situation for her too. Sheâs pretty sure the only reason she managed to get an invite to the elite party was because of her connections within her coven. âI see, well since youâre not all mopey in mourning like everyone else, do you fancy a drink with me? I may have some how ended up with a bottle from her collection in my hand still when i left the placeâ she shrugs innocently at the admission of theft.
hana thought about it for a moment, turning to look at her phone to see what time it was. she didnât have to be at her shift at the bookstore for hours now, so she had time. she shrugged. âsure,â she said, nodding her head, ignoring the fact they would be drinking stolen wine. âunless youâre planning to take me home to axe murder me? know that that wouldnât end well for you.âÂ

â LIKE COAL ? â  thea asks, the first thing to come to mind. apparently her knowledge on rocks was smaller than she thought. thea read out her address from the bronxâwell, her brotherâs address, but it was still hers until she got a place to herself. which at the rate sheâs going, wasnât looking promising.
âsort of,â she said, shrugging her shoulders. âbut coal is... rough, and it gets all over the place. and itâs dull. obsidian is smooth and shiny. itâs made from lava,â she tells her, to keep the conversation going. she wasnât sure that this other girl really cared but she continued on with it anyway. she put the address in and started the order. âname and phone number?â she asked, meeting the otherâs eyes again.Â
âNo comment.â he teases, it was rather nice to have someone who was confident, more people needed to be. He appreciated that, because that meant she was forward in most things. He sighed at her comment, knowing she that any mention of supernatural and that was a sore subject ârelax, itâs the way I know youâre still alive and breathing.â and it was. He could at least hear it, and know, not in the sense to taunt her. Moving to take a piece of the cake, he ate it, not really one for Lemon flavored sweets. âHmm, this is quite nice.â he smiles âthough I do like their chocolate chip cookies too.â
âand youâre worried iâll suddenly drop dead at a given moment?â she asked despite herself, raising an eyebrow curiously. sheâd been the one who wanted to move on from this part of the conversation and now sheâd decided she wanted to continue it; though, that was her prerogative. âhow mundane,â hana teased, bringing the treat back to herself and taking another piece off, plopping it into her mouth as she happily chewed and swallowed it once more. âbut iâll have to remember that for next time.âÂ
âuh, no â i grew up here actually and moved around quite a bit. left the city when i was seventeen.â responding, thinking of how much the moving caused him to not really have a stable⌠anything it seemed. but it was for the good of the family. he nodded, glad that she was understanding⌠granted he didnât know, but she made that clear. ânice to meet you hana.â saying as he took her hand and shook it, giving a smile towards her. âyouâre a lot nicer than most people i run into.â he jokes.Â
hana nodded her head in understanding. sheâd moved around too, with her uncle, around europe. she wouldnât be able to tell anyone where her âhomeâ was, only because she had stayed in so many different places, she hadnât been able to grow roots. nyc had been the first place that had been hears. she smiled back at him. âitâs a facade,â she teased, giving him a smirk. âor maybe iâm just always nice to a pretty face.â she waved her hand in his direction, moving to tuck her hand back into her jacket pocket.Â
âTexas, a small town outside of Dallas.â He responds, thinking of how he was just glad it was the last time that the family would be moving. Moving to three different states in the span of six years⌠was a lot for any family. âItâs okay,â saying before he lowered his had as she spoke of her family, he felt bad for prying now. âWow.. I uh, I am so sorry.â Scrambling to find words, tempted to tell her he understood since had just lost his father a year ago. âI literally just met you && Iâm asking about heavy stuff.â Adding as he shook his head, putting his hands in his pockets. âIâm Silas by the way.âÂ
hana hummed in acknowledgement. sheâd never been to texas herself, not seeing how she would have any true reason to actually go there, but sheâd heard much about it. âdid you grow up there too?â she asked, tilting her head in curiosity. she waved her hand in nonchalance. sheâd spent plenty of years using the trauma of losing her parents to her benefit. she didnât need to do that anymore. âitâs okay,â she promised. âwell, not okay theyâre dead. but okay because you didnât know.â she smiled at him, reaching out and offering him her hand. âhana,â she responded, waiting for him to take her outstretched offering.
GABRIEL GUESSES HE SHOULD HAVE CANCELLED ON HANA, wanting to mope around by himself instead of seeing anyone. he knows he shouldnât be projecting, but itâs difficult. âiâm always uptight,â he mutters, looking up from what he was doing in the kitchen. he knows she canât argue with that. âthereâs just a lot on my mind, thatâs all. i get through it.â
âyouâre not,â she pointed out, sighing as she moved her hair over her shoulder and out of her face. standing up, she moved to lean against the counter of his kitchen, her arms crossing over her chest. hana watched him for a long moment, giving her an expectant expression. âweâre friends, gabriel. you can talk to me,â she urged. âwhatâs going on?â

âand youâre confident too.â he states with a wink. it was comical yes, she wasnât wrong, a few visuals have run through his mind. Did she really care about the fact that she was stood up? he wondered, seeing that she was looking at her phone. But as quickly as the thought came, it went. Dorian wouldnât apply anything serious to it anyway. âof course.â he states closing his eyes for few minutes âand that heart is pumping so delightfully.â he smirks in reply before looking at the lemon cake. âwhy thank you, you first.â he says as he waits for her to take the first piece.Â
âand why should i not be?â hana asked, raising an eyebrow at him with a smirk on her face. she had been raised by her uncle, who was a tad narcissistic, but that didnât mean that she didnât learn how to value her own worth. hana scrunched her nose up, shaking her head at him. âdonât do that,â she warned, because while she wasnât the worst hunter out there, there was still parts of her that were uneasy around supernatural individuals. sighing, she reached forward and took a piece off, popping it in her mouth. she hummed, closing her eyes happily. âso good,â she said after she swallowed.Â
THEA JUST STARES AT THE GIRL FOR A MOMENT, not sure how said old man with a penthouse relates to her situation.  â whatever, â  she finally says, not unkindly, just wanting to move on from this ridiculous conversation.  â what kinda rock is that ? â  thea had been joking when she asked about the rock, but of course she knew different types of rocks.  â yeah, you think ? â  thereâs a small snort, because the brunette wasnât exactly hiding it.  â not exactly my choice. but thatâs fine, i can give you my address. â  it was much too far to come all the way here again, just to pick up some books she doesnât even want.
hana laughed softly, looking down at the computer and back up to the girl. âitâs... shiny and black,â she tells the other, because there wasnât much else to describe it as. she continued smirking at the computer as she continued typing. âokay, cool,â she said, nodding her head. she looked up, meeting the otherâs eyes. âiâm ready when you are,â she offered.Â
