(oh thats another reason his third awakening didnt happen at jazz jin. one, the focus was more on ren overcoming his regrets than akechi. two, jazz jin is "the real", symbol of their true bond. ofc the struggle of marukis choice, "the ideal", wouldnt hit as hard there as compared to at leblanc, narratively rens "ideal" place, his home his hideout the family and friends and place he wants. leblanc symbolizes that ideal, wanting all the goods without the bads, from staying in tokyo to not being arrested, from akechi surviving to him being a part of the thieves, part of rens life without any problem at all. if only it can be so easy and perfect ! only at leblanc can this desire be conveyed to such a degree, would ren's indecision make so much sense and narratively akechi had to fight back so hard. bcs if it had been at jazz jin, he wouldnt feel so threatened since ren wouldnt so easily choose to betray their bond if hes sitting at their spot, symbol of what they've made of their true reality)
