I'm halfway through spinning this batch of self-striping yarn. It's not my usual technique for splitting up the colours, but it's been fun.
In each skein, I have 25g each of pink, purple, teal and black and 50g of a blend that includes very similar colours. I split each solid colour into 8 chunks, and then split the blend into 32 small chunks. The pattern is solid colours and blend alternating, with the blended sections being about half the length of the solids.
