Society treats empathy like it's the singular trait separating good people from bad people. But empathy alone has never been a guarantee of kindness or morality. Someone can feel affective empathy and still hurt you. Being an empathetic individual does not exempt someone from being fully capable of inflicting harm onto others; and as a matter of fact, I ended up this way due to the wrongdoings of those who did possess empathy.

So don't assume someone is automatically a good person just because they "feel things deeply" or are "highly sensitive." If anything, emotionally attuned people can sometimes manipulate others the best because they understand emotions better.

So much for putting empathy on a pedestal.
