To reverse something (for good or for bad) engrave it on the candle in reverse. Starting with the last letter, ending with the first letter. To amplify this, mirror the letters as well. This can also be done to hex a person or break their influence over someone or something.

A potent hex can be the lighting of a candle for someone's health and breaking it (essentially breaking the prayer), thus afflicting the person with horrid health.

Another way to reverse something is to reverse the candle. I.e cut off the top of the candle to make it flat and scrap the bottom of the candle to reveal a new wick and burning it from there.

The Grimoire of Dr. Fian makes mention of the usage of wooden stakes in thread magick for benefic or general works and a metal/iron stake in thread magick for works of bane. To the same, I assume this can be used in context of engraving candles. I do, however, feel obliged to mention that some peope use iron nails in engraving candles for protection, curse breaking etc. so it would depend on how the item is enchanted for the purpose. If in doubt, use the end of an incense stick.

A way of breaking someone's hold over something is to enchant a candle to the same and to break it midway through the ritual, letting it burn out as able.

A candle coated in white vinegar and salt serves well for potent cleansings whereas a candle coated in black vinegar and red pepper serves well in hexing.

Apple-Cider Vinegar coated candles serve well in rites of healing.

Blue candles can be burnt to break and prevent malocchio, red candles can be burnt to improve health (essentially as Mars is a Warrior Planet, he can be called upon to help the person fight the illness). Green candles are powerful in love magick because the colour is strongly tied to Venus.

One can press three coins into a candle and cover it in honey, thyme, cinnamon and bay leaves to create a potent money candle.

One can introduce specific effects by wrapping candles. For example, a candle meant to curse someone with depression could be wrapped with a grey thread (as Dr. Fian's Grimoire makes note that the colour grey is used for depression).

Candles can be used in the same way as eggs in the way that they are rubbed over the body and burnt to cleanse evil.

A lot of people talk about color correspondences with candles, but a candle's potential in magic runs way deeper than that! Here's a list of things I don't see people mention as much:

Loading a Candle

Carve out a small hole in the bottom of the candle and stuff it with herbs, a name, whatever else you want to "fill" the candle with.

Carvings

Etch sigils, symbols, names, and other things into the candle before burning! (I like the idea of writing my problems/worries onto the candle then watching as they burn and melt away.)

Dressing a Candle

Much like loading a candle, mix your herbs in an oil or have a pre-made magical oil ready to cover your candle in before lighting.

Reversals

Chop off the top of the candle, flip it upside down, and carve a new wick out of the bottom (now top.) This is a good way to inverse its symbolism!

Shape of Candle/Container

Not all candles are little cylenders. Candles shaped like pyramids, spheres, hearts, skulls, or animals can all have those correspondences taken into account as well.

Life of the Flame

Some candles are meant to only burn for a short period of time then be blown out. (Like birthday candles.) Others are meant to burn continuously over multiple days (like yahrzeit candles or seven-day candles.) Others can be lit or extinguished as you please. Which one makes the most sense for your goals?

Burning or Beacon?

A candle flame is a light in the darkness, drawing things near. It's also literal fire which can burn away whatever it touches. Which one is your candle trying to do, burn out something undesired or serve as a beacon for what you DO desire? Plan accordingly.

Protection, immortality, romance, longevity, adoration, endurance, warding, happiness, and love.

Apricot:

Admiration, compassion, cheerfulness, devotion, bliss, love, happiness, romance, and optimism.

Avocado:

Compassion, adoration, contentment, optimism, pleasure, romance, happiness, lasting love, and positivity.

Banana:

Fruitfulness, affluence, s*xuality, lustfulness, fertility, prosperity, passion, bounty, sensuality, and desire.

Cherry:

Resurgence, reawakening, prosperity, revival, rebirth, sensuality, romance, rejuvenation, and fortune.

Coconut:

Purifying, revolution, rejuvenating, reawakening, exclusion, cleansing, transformation, and banishment.

Dragon Fruit:

Conquest, opulence, strengthening, excellent luck, victory, energizing, achievement, and success.

Grape:

Extravagance, lushness, prosperity, fruitfulness, magnificence, regard, bountifulness, fertility, and luxury.

Lemon:

Cleansing, invigorating, cunning, purification, dexterity, refreshing, intelligence, and banishing.

Lime:

Regeneration, cleansing, stimulating, sustenance, transformation, revitalization, purification, energizing, and transformation.

Lychee:

Good fortune, sophistication, love, attraction, wealth, excellent treasure, elegance, romance, splendor, and abundance.

Mango:

Cheerfulness, success, happiness, delightfulness, prosperity, pleasure, abundance, and blissfulness.

Olive:

Camaraderie, coherence, cleansing, harmonization, restoration, purification, collaboration, synchronization, and healing.

Papaya:

Escalation, inspiration, contemplation, love, prosperity, and compassion, attraction, introspection, and romance.

Peach:

Vitality, perseverance, rejuvenation, wellbeing, spiritual rebirth, vigor, fertility, longevity, vitality, and fecundity.

Pear:

Synchronization, intelligence, wellbeing, affluence, endurance, harmonization, healthiness, prosperity, and longevity.

Pineapple:

Decadence, magnificence, affluence, knowledge, abundance, understanding, good luck, and opulence.

Pomegranate:

Fruitfulness, attraction, majesty, magnetism, lushness, fruitfulness, splendor, magnificence, and fecundity.

Tomato:

Relationships, accomplishment, dignity, reward, triumph, desire, connections, success, honor, bounty, victory, and lustfulness.
