External validation,

Is always nice,

But I found internal validation,

Too long ago,

To entertain your incessant need,

For me to qualify,

For your expectations,

Of who I should be.

There’s nothing more attractive,

Than a good person.

Someone who is honest,

Not just with the world,

But with themselves.

Ambition gets my blood pumping,

Intellect does too.

But nothing hits as hard,

As watching someone,

Do what’s right,

When doing what’s wrong,

I’ve been swinging this axe.

But these walls never chip.

I’ve been tearing at a mask.

That we know I won’t rip.

I’ve been trying my hardest.

But you fuck with my head.

I’ve been running so fast.

You’re still two steps ahead.

I’ve been wearing these layers.

But still feel the snow.

I’ve been holding on tight.

Breathe the life back into me,

It’s been years,

Did you know?

I forgot how to feel excited,

I was broken,

Does it show?

It’s like I found a missing piece,

To the puzzle,

In my mind.

It’s all making sense now,

I’m inspired,
