I LOVE contemp to songs that are typically used for other styles. Like I just saw a contemp group to These Boots Are Made For Walking and it altered my brain chemistry, I'm obsessed.
Yeah because why are they wearing black? Let them be kids. Black is not a kids' colour.
wtf is a "kids' colour" 😭😭😭
have you considered that ceasing to comment negatively on their clothing might actually be the first step in letting them be kids?
Since when is commenting negatively on completely asinine and unimportant, and PERSONAL, aspects of the lives of CHILDREN (especially as it pertains to appearance!) completely normal behaviour, but questioning why people are doing that is weird?
baby i think you worded this in the most confusing way possible, i feel like i had a stroke reading it 😭😭
but i absolutely agree! unfortunately being weird and negative toward children online is super normalized nowdays. it's like the perfect intersection of online "snark" culture and gen alpha's complete lack of understanding of social norms.
Who cares about the colour?
oh you would be shocked how many people are still, to this day, shitting and pissing their diapers over the fact that p21 has an all black dress code

Why do you always feel the need to be controversial? oh bby ur so weird. I'll talk about what I want.
i honestly just feel like a lot of people have very sinful lifestyles that they choose to have because of Satan, and the lord put it on my heart to speak out against them even if the world considers it controversial!! #intheworldnotoftheworld <3
Wait I just found your tiktok matching posts and bio😭 you’re gorg btw!
aw thank you!! I delete tik tok all the time bc I feel like it's bad for my brain so don't be surprised if I suddenly don't post for 6 months lol
omg what’s ur tiktok?
I don't wanna post it here for the world to see, but if we're mutuals, you're grown, and you message me privately I can tell you :)
As long as it's appropriate and safe, why do people care what colour or cut of dancewear kids wear to class???? do we not have anything else to discuss? I don't get it.
Omg hey queen!!

how are we throwing around the word "robbed" when nationals haven't even happened yet??? Robbed based on what??? you haven't seen them dance yet 😭😭😭😭
PP doesn't even require musical theatre to have songs from musicals... ik they're trying to be edgy or revolutionary or whatever but come on, that's kinda the point of the genre
Do regular comps require it? I’ve honestly never noticed but typically it’s a given the song is from a musical lol. I don’t think I’ve ever seen in the requirements it must be from a musical of some sort
I looked at a bunch of competitions' descriptions of musical theater
Comps whose definition does say that the song has to be from a musical (broadway/movie/tv): BTF, Radix, Ovation, Hall of Fame, Kar, In10sity, Starquest, Revel
Competitions that do not say that: Press Play, Velocity, Starpower, Streetz, Adrenaline (some of these say "consists of Broadway dance styles" but not specifically music)
Example of a piece that perfectly fits the musical theatre category without using a song from a musical:
the reading comprehension in that sub is not it...
I had to laugh when I saw the post about “how did Regan get a Ricky solo????” Like the people on that sub genuinely JUST discovered what outside choreo is
A video of Eva Alley doing made in Japan just came up on my fyp and I had to do a double take cause wdym she’s not 8 years old anymore???
Do you have any examples of studios that do that?
oh idk of any well-known studios by name, but I'm in a dance teacher discussion group on facebook and it came up there!

No allowing kids to pick their own duo partners is crazy, I've been in the same situation. I get that it's nice and fun for them to dance with their friends or whatever. But when advanced level, 4 foot-tall, grounded and artistic contemporary queen Suzy demands to do a duet with 5-foot pre-competitive sharp and sassy jazz queen Everleigh-Meigh what the hell am I going to come up with for them?!
oof yeah I've had to choreograph duets and trios like that at my original studio years ago, it's rough. those always end up being the pieces where you just have to bear down and put together something that looks presentable on stage, rather than the ones that are this whole artistic journey where you get to support and guide the dancers through personal development. and obviously the latter is more enjoyable and beneficial for everyone involved, but a lot of dancers (understandably, because they are children) and parents don't understand that.
I just found out that at some studios parents/kids get to pick their own songs for solo/duet/trios and I think working at a studio like that would be my absolute worst nightmare
