ignirati :
“You only ask that after you laugh.” He’s ok if that response gave away any hint of his condition. He’s been knocked down by the punching bag before and also by much worse. He gets back up, taking a breath in. ( That bag knocked a lot of air out of him. ) While he was pissed earlier, he wasn’t anymore.
It was therapeutic for him to box honestly and at this point, quite a few of the paladins are aware. Pidge, especially knows. He has found comfort in the smaller paladin’s presence more often than not. He doesn’t know why but he’s thankful for it nonetheless.
He wipes the sweat off his brow. “Did you plan on being a distraction or is it another allnighter for us?” His cheeky way of asking if Pidge couldn’t sleep again. He was aware how they have troubles as well sleeping. All paladins did at some point.
“At least I asked.”
Quickly falling back into routine-- no hesitation as they reply, smirk tugging at the corner of their lips. Having seen him knocked down by worse and back on his feet twice as fast, Pidge have no qualms teasing him about a mishap in the training room.
Shrug thrown in response to his next question, reaching up to fiddle with glasses for a moment. Just as Pidge could read Keith, he could read the young paladin. It was hard to sleep when their family was still out there, when every moment spent resting felt like a moment wasted, a moment that could be crucial in the safe return.
“A happy accident, I swear. I was on my way down to the hanger. Figured only one other person would be up, and in here at this hour.”
He panted softly. Sweat dripped from his face and his hands were wrapped tightly with tape to cushion any hits. He usually wore his gloves but not tonight. Tonight, he just wanted to beat something out. He always let steam out through fighting. In the best case, he could go to a ring and in the worst case, he would get into a lot of trouble. Either way, it helped. It helped feeling flesh collide with the bag. He knew 100% he made contact with it and he exhaled in relief.
Keith turned when he heard someone. They could have been there for hours honestly and he wouldn’t have noticed right then when the room fell silent enough and his body was relaxed enough. When he turned, he turned his back to the makeshift target and it swung back like an pendulum to knock him off his feet.
Late nights greet the young paladin like an old friend, taking solace in the silence of the castle as they wander through the empty corridors. Although not always the only one awake at such an hour-- it comes as no surprise to catch a blur of motion from within the training deck.
The ferocity with which he attacks gives away his emotions-- after many nights spent in silent companionship ( and childish bickering ), Pidge has learned to read the once elusive red paladin. Not wanting to disrupt his concentration, they stay silent in the entry way. A few minutes before he notices, brow raising as he meets amber eyes as if to offer company--
--only to snort as he's knocked down. Perhaps they should feel a little guilty, but it’s far too funny in the moment.
“Oh my god. You’re okay, right?”

What a tragedy to think so much of the world, yet so little of yourself.
