âł Steven Stone/Daigo Tsuwabuki
I need this. OMG, a Steven Stone Figure!!
Note: Cynthia is also getting one along with Garchomp
I NEED THIS
But Devon doesn't use infinite energy in the games? And what Steven does about it? He uses the energy to save own skin and possibly destroy another planet. He may even disagree with the company policies and his father, since they seem to argue a lot. But even so he acts like any accommodated bourgeois, exploiting others when suits him. He does nothing because it's the source of his fortune. Of course game!Steven isn't evil, and is much better than the manga one But that's not being corrupt?
They do, but the way it is handled in the games is not like the manga at all. Even though it is mentioned that Infinity Energy is believed to be used to power Mega Stones, the manga approaches this idea very differently by having them drain a Pokemonâs energy while in their Mega Evolved state.
In the official game canon, Infinity Energy comes from a Pokemonâs life force, which powers their corresponding Mega Stone so that they may Mega Evolve. Meaning that itâs simply one of the three mediums required to reach this state, rather than power that is produced exclusively from Mega Evolving, Ă la the manga.
But more than that, according to the confidential documents in Sea Mauville, Infinity Energy is taken from Pokemon bioenergy. Bioenergy being defined as ârenewable energy made available from materials derived from biological sources. Biomass is any organic material which has stored sunlight in the form of chemical energy. As a fuel it may include wood, wood waste, straw, manure, sugarcane, and many other byproducts from a variety of agricultural processes.âÂ
This means that Infinity Energy could very well be taken from renewable substances from Pokemon. To further my point, hereâs an excerpt from the Infinity Energy page on Bulbapedia:
Prior to the events of PokĂŠmon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Mr. Stoneâs grandfather, the previous president of the Devon Corporation, learned of the ultimate weapon and wished to use the same energy to help people and PokĂŠmon. This led to Devon developing Infinity Energy. The use of this energy made Devon one of the top industries in Hoenn. Many things have since been powered using the energy, such as Submarine Explorer 1 and the rockets launched from the Mossdeep Space Center. The Devon Parts were also parts to help make the submarine run on Infinity Energy.
In the Delta Episode, a rocket full of Infinity Energy was to be launched to teleport the incoming asteroid to another dimension, prior to Zinnia preventing the launch.
Now, while the Ultimate Weapon was fueled by a Pokemonâs life force thanks to AZ (and maybe Josephâs grandfather did the same), who is to say that the other Stones who came after began to discover more ethical means of producing it? The games donât really go into much detail about Devonâs current policies, but given how Steven and his father care deeply about the well-being of Pokemon, I really wouldnât it past them to find methods that donât hurt Pokemon.
As for Steven and his fatherâs relationship, there really isnât anything indicating them being on bad terms, unless you count Josephâs playful banter towards his son.Â
I also wouldnât go as far as to say that Steven exploits others just to suit himself. While he does indeed seem to give orders, thereâs really nothing that is selfishly exploitative about this. And I doubt Steven cares very little for his fortune, either. Just look at how willingly he is to give away his infinite resources to help other people. Besides, heâs far more interested in his own hobbies and Pokemon battling than he is in Devon.
But I think more than that, since the Pokemon League is essentially the sports equivalent to the real world, Iâm pretty sure Steven could be financially stable with his role as a Champion. Considering how famous he is outside of Devon heir status, he most likely gets paid interviews and features from time to time.
So, yeah. Manga!Steven is most certainly corrupt compared to regular Steven.
EDIT: I realized that you were probably referring to Manga!Steven at a later point, so I apologize for that. Anyway, even if he does argue with his father, but still exploits people, that kinda bolsters the fact that heâs still corrupt.
And I present to you all the final nail in the coffin to prove once and for all that the in-game models arenât scaled!
So letâs get started, shall we?
The first image I used AZ âs canon height and lined up the characters to see how they fared next to him, and look at the difference! All of them have heights of either extreme or almost unrealistic proportions!
The height that I gave Lysandre was used for the second image, and here AZ is one foot shorter than his original height while the others are still pretty tall themselves.
Stevenâs headcanon height of 5â˛10 was used for the third picture. While I could get behind Sycamore and Maxie being around 6â˛2, Archie being 6â˛7, and even Lys at 6â˛11, it still doesnât do much that AZ is slightly shorter than his given height.
And last but not least, I used Archieâs given height and now have a similar situation to the so-called âcanonâ height chart from over a year ago that almost everyone on Tumblr accepted without question. Er, what can I say about this oneâŚ? Yeah, this one just doesnât work at all. AZ is not standing at his canon height, Lysandre is at average male height, and the others are extremely short.Â
So, all in all. The models arenât scaled and therefor inaccurate. You can all thank me later.
Not only that, look at the heights of these characters converted by different people (from game files to MMD). They are not consistent at all.
Thanks for the additional info! I had no idea that the models were rigged differently from each person. This helps a ton!

Don't you think Steven in the manga is somewhat corrupt, -or at least is how they are trying to do write him in ORAS chapter? Because all of that infinity energy stuff.
I agree. And to be honest, I rather dislike it. A lot.
Not only is my favorite character in all of Pokemon being portrayed differently than the official game canon, but heâs suddenly corrupt and partaking in things that his other two counterparts would be thoroughly disgusted at.
And on that very note, I really donât like how Devon is portrayed as this evil corporation that experiments on Pokemon for Infinity Energy, thus adding a reason to Zinniaâs supposed hatred of Steven in the games.
Not only is it contradictory to the official canon as itâs a company that caters to the trainer lifestyle and other Pokemon needs, but Iâm pretty sure that sort of corruption would be illegal. Given how very famous and influential Devon is, theyâd be found out faster than you can say Mew, and theyâve been around for how long? Most likely way before Josephâs grandfather was around, considering that itâs a family business that dates back many generations.
While folks like Lysandre could keep dark stuff under raps, I highly doubt the people at Devon would. I mean, in spite of making the Holocaster, Lysandre Labs isnât as powerful of a company as Devon. Besides, Lys is evil and the Stone family isnât. Joseph is a generous man and his son, being the Champion and all, represents what every trainer in Hoenn strives to be.
Tl;Dr, Steven and Devon being evil and corrupt is OOC and I dislike it.
Yikes. This turned into yet another rant, but thanks for weighing in on this and sending this ask. :)

lol I already observed that Steven made no much effort to to save Mairin and Alain. I found it odd. At that moment i thought was aloofness and disregard on his part. He was in comfort and didn't want to leave his helicopter; Plus he knew them recently, he was not really attached . But him being extremely anxious of die can explain, i think
Thatâs true, and besides he was probably confident enough that Metgross could handle it. Like imagine how disastrous it wouldâve been if he had left and ended up unconscious or worse. I guess he also felt that everything was left in his hands as he was the strongest trainer there, so treading carefully was his best bet to get through the situation. XD
When talking about thanatophobia, I observed how dissimilar are his counterparts. I consider game the official, as everything is based off/interpretations of them. thus Manga Steven is SO different from game Steven. Besides the looks and champion role, they have unlike personalities and motivations, as they were different persons. Anime Steven seems more friendly, less spolied, less testy and less observer than the game one. What do you think of his counterparts differences?
How right you are, anon! XD
I definitely agree that the games canon is without a doubt, the most official one, since the games are what started this awesome franchise in the first place. Which is why I kinda dislike when people try to make the manga canon coincide with the games and anime canon when the former is extremely different from both.
But before I delve into this, keep in mind thatâs been well over 8 years since I read the manga. So if I leave anything important out, please let me know.
A little warning beforehand; this is going be pretty lengthy.Â
I am trying to write an fanfiction about Steven completly based on the game. I really love the character and Pokemon lacks fics based on the canon. So reading his dialogues, I observed that: he's TOO worried (which you interpreted as being afraid of die, maybe? xD). He's overly polite, he looked down on the player and other people, he give orders (uses a lot imperative) and sometimes he's cocky. Of course, he's lovely, but i've never noticed those characteristics before.
Sorry this took long to answer! Still busy with school.
Thatâs great, anon! I do agree that there are little fics based on the game canon. Anyway, that is a very good observation.  Though, I wouldnât exactly say he is worried because he usually tries keep clear head during situations, and comes up with solutions to the issue at at hand. But thatâs just me. XD And correct me if Iâm wrong, but I donât remember much about him looking down on the player, though I do recall the countless time he would order everyone (including the player) around. Lol.
Steven also does indeed come off as cocky. Maybe slightly arrogant even. Heâs the Pokemon League Champion, so of course that may give a person more incentive to be super confident in their battling skills. But whoâs to say his dashing looks could also warrant this attitude. O___o
As for his politeness, thereâs a huge theory that that side of him is just a public facade. Given his reputation, I wouldnât be surprised if that was the case. Though, this is mostly based around the recent anime canon, so who really knows for sure?Â
However, I can say that most of the time that he is with the player, he seems pretty genuine, though I often attribute that to him having a soft spot for children (not in the creepy pedo way of course). Going by the anime, he seems more friendly to Mairin than anyone else.
So all in all, despite what some people may think, Steven has flaws. And not just being scared of certain things, or lacking certain skills, but genuine and human personality flaws. The oneâs that youâve observed in canon are a pretty great start, but I hope more come along the way. Maybe a second playthrough of ORAS is at hand. XD
Thanks for this ask, and good luck with your story! :)

wait what's thanatophobia in this case and what evidence shows that steven has it? (idk how my tone sounds, but i'm genuinely curious uwu)
Thanatophobia is the fear of dying, and while not confirmed, dialogue from the games hints that Steven does have this phobia. In the case of the video, Stevenâs worried and frantic behavior heavily furthers this (especially when Alain decides to engage with the Primal duo, and Steven stuttering and unable to finish his sentence upon seeing Mega Rayquaza). Hope that explains it. :)
o.o at least some of you know that it is thanatophobia? xD indeed know that it is a phobia of that magnitude? if they really was , he would not be in caves looking for rocks
besides that both the anime seems he does not mind being attacked by a rayquaza(I saw not panic on him even when rayquaza launched its draco meteor xDDD)  or would not according with his death  for be controlling Regis to save Hoenn on the manga ( knew he was going to die)
I see him as a quiet and peaceful guy that avoid unnecessary fights xD
curious and sometimes worries too much, and is frustrated by not knowing the answer from his search , is anxious to know so many things and discover (that is one reason why the guy out of its borders beyond Hoenn, as Cynthia is one of the few champions who visited more regions)Â therefore it is a totally sane person (nerd, but sane)
but is just my opinion never mind XDDDD
Well, going in caves where thereâs nothing but wild Pokemon wouldnât really present a threat to Steven, especially since his team is incredibly strong. Plus, I wouldnât be surprised if he knew how to calm agitated Pokemon (if weâre to go by the anime, that is).Â
Him being within point-blank range within Rayquazaâs Draco Meteor was just something illogical that happened that the Pokemon anime team are often guilty of (realistically he shouldâve been dead). I mean, Alainâs arm was clearly injured in the same episode, and then suddenly heâs fine. O___oÂ
In a previous ask of mine I mentioned that the manga was a separate Canon of its own, therefor the Steven there is as well; he is very different from his anime and game counterparts.Â
Also, thanatophobia doesnât necessarily mean a person who is so afraid of dying that they avoid everything. And considering that the Pokemon world is much safer than our own, Steven wouldnât have much to fear, other than rampaging Legendaries. .___.

Steven Stone promotion, for the Steven lovers in us all
Release Date: December 26th
(source)
That was the final act? I thought it said to be continued
According to the Corocoro scan back in August, it was the final act, and Iâm the guessing the âTo be continued...â thing was just there to indicate that the rest of the story was to resume in the new anime series. Kinda like how an episode before a new season in a different region ends I guess.Â
