HI THANK YOU AND I LOVE BRUSTEPH I have not read too much of her time as spoiler and I've only read a little bit of her as batgirl but I Have read all of her robin issues that's my caveat for my hcs

I honestly think that Bruce is floundering a bit when it comes to her as a young girl compared to the boys he's always been around and I think he has some low key sexist tendencies with her not out of any particular maliciousness I think it's more patronizing where she's somehow more delicate and Bruce feels he has to be more strict about his rules with her to ensure her safety + is more critical of her mistakes and faults compared to the boys. I don't think she's a fuck up at all yes she makes mistakes and yes she can be impulsive and make assumptions but this isn't anything unique compared to the others, dick and jason and tim and damian all get away with more and worse mistakes compared to her, like I wouldn't call her a fail girl but Bruce has that gut feeling that she is

and that's why he should keep her in a cage 💕

I also think he couldn't really gaf about her at least not at first she's like tim in the way she needs to insert herself into his life, because batman needs a robin (and also bc she needs him)

vibes are very much dad who doesn't want a cat but then hes hanging out with the cat all the time

and he is fairly kind and patient with her imo he can be critical and strict but he explains things and spends time with her and makes sure she understands why they're doing what they're doing. I didn't get the impression from reading that he's trying to push her too hard to force her to fail or quit even though I think Alfred implies that bc her training seemed to me to be the same as any other robins training except for the ultimatum. that being said I'm not opposed to that reading particularly bc of aforementioned sexist reasons, but I don't think he pushes her too terribly hard without any compassion (except in forever violence world) I think there is a general undercurrent of that sexism in their relationship

which is also why I think daddydaughter brusteph works well imo he is a good example of a nuclear family patriarch towards her (and I read so much of my personal experience with her as a sort of scapegoat in their "family" that I don't think would happen, or at least so severely, without the inherent sexism)

so with that being said I think he still hits her too 🥰 <- that one's mostly just for me but in the world where he's training his robins to be the best I think there is always some kind of assault going on

another great thing about brusteph is that she's also so experienced for her age like she's had a baby, it's not like Bruce cant spiral as bad about "corrupting her" bc she's already "corrupted" (subconsciously/unexamined bias) and he thinks highly enough of himself to think he can train her to be Good

24/7 ddlg relationship at home but not in like a tumblr blog way but in like a he gifts her a tennis bracelet "collar" and he wears a ring for her and they do their own things generally but she still has a check in with him every day and they're still operating mostly normally with an undercurrent of asking your dad for help with your homework and low-key babysitting him so he doesn't lash out or punish you but also pushing it bc then he would focus on you more

I wouldn't call her a brat but she has brattish tendencies I think a lot about that one screenshot tumblr post with the quote about how children don't want freedom they want to be obedient. she wants Bruce to be proud of her and recognize her (join the club lol) like she was literally willing to do anything for him as robin. yes she impulsively disobeyed an order on the field but that's a cause for spankings, not firings. I think she should have demanded that, a punishment, anything but being fired

that one brusteph photo they are soo like this. girl who wants everything and daddy who has everything. they are rich and weird. velcro'd to him when she gets to be in public with him. and I think he would like spending money on her bc she would appreciate it. like dick is just happy to be anywhere Bruce is. Jason would maybe appreciate a cool bike from him but otherwise he has his own resources. tim is already rich and so is damian who again, would just be happy to be where Bruce is. Stephanie wants things. she wants experiences. he could take her to a fancy spa and get them matching bathrobes and she would be so happy and excited and light up the whole entire room. money does buy happiness sometimes actually (and not just in the getting rent paid way)

I recently read @guiltybat's fic where Bruce brushes Stephanie's hair and it is sooooo 👌👌👌on the topic of spas i can't stop thinking about him brushing her hair, or if they were to get more intimate like wash her hair too. I like imagining that they have their routines and habits that help them both day to day
