Best thing about watching my grandparents cat is that while I'm there I can rifle through the great Quilt Stash and bring out beautiful works of art to sleep under.
Just checked the notes on this post and saw people demanding cat pics, so here is the wonderful beast Lucy herself:
Finally watched the first episode of Half Man and boy its been a long time since ive felt that many emotional swings in a 50 minute time period and i lowkey nearly had a panic attack
As a Greek, in response to the current controversy about Matt Damon being cast as Odysseus, I'd just like to share that one of the moments that changed my brain chemistry as a kid was reading a novelized version of the Odyssey and coming across the following description of Odysseus when Circe sees him for the first time and thinks he's hot: "his hair curled like a clematis and his eyes were very brown".
So may I present my own casting choice for Odysseus:
Excuse me???
you are right and you should say it.
Is this the face of a man who would put his own infant in front of a plow to avoid going to war?
Absolutely not
You know who would try that shit?
Is this the face of a man who would defy the very gods to get home to his wife?
You know who would defy the gods just to show he could get away with it?
The last thing Penelope's suitors ever see:
The cosmic foreshadowing of seeing all the Europeans on my feed absolutely melting in the fires of hell for the past week, not knowing that I was about to be hit with the same calamity...
I love birds so much but I am also hungover and I'm exploding these mockingbirds with my mindddddd

Finally read E. W. Hornung's Raffles books. I kept hearing about it for ages, of course, but always thought it's just something between Holmes and Poirot, never expected it would be so -
"It was Raffles I loved. It was not the dark life we led together, still less its base rewards; it was the man himself, his gayety, his humor, his dazzling audacity, his incomparable courage and resource. "
Bunny is so gone. Also, the fact that it's written by Doyle's brother-in-law somehow makes it even better.
it bothers me that you often don't really hear about people having a "favorite album" the way they might have a favorite movie or favorite video game
fuck it. reblog this and tell me in the tags what your favorite album is

the thing is sometimes black sails plays its tropes and parallels to famous literary works completely straight and sometimes it subverts them and sometimes it does a secret third thing. so it's impossible to say what happened
like the case study for this i think is when it was playing a montage of flint beating silver in practice sword fights before they were going to fight for realsies and i was thinking okay. i know this trope. it's going to be a montage of him getting better but not quite winning and then he wins this real fight because of what he's learned. and then i started second-guessing myself like yeah but this show is savvy about its tropes. it might be trying to lead me to think that silver is going to win but actually flint does because Stories Aren't Real Life Stupid -- the blacksails writers. and i went back and forth on this torturously until the duel never happened because both of them got distracted because the walrus blowed up which of course i did not predict at all
like the thing is. if you don't see the body it's a fakeout death. black sails does this multiple times and it's infallible except when maybe it's not. billy wasn't dead madi wasn't dead so thomas hamilton isn't dead. except maybe they were doing it to create the false impression that thomas hamilton wasn't dead by creating a predictable formula and making you fill in the gaps yourself with what you think should be there. but maybe it's baiting you into expecting a subversion. maybe something else happened. what do you want to have happened. what do you think is a Good Story. what do you think is in line with the Themes and Characters. what do you think is More Realistic. no matter what you choose they got your ass
i guess what i mean is that the second you think anything happened you're weighing in based on what you think a story should have in it and you've already lost
the problem with that being of course that it Is in fact a story. consciously so
