I definitely don't think Carmy and Syd hooked up or slept together before Season 5. That hug was so charged with emotion, pent-up feelings, desire, and relief; it wouldn't make sense for them to have already been together before that moment. However, the theory that they hooked up *after* the hug might make sense; that lovestruck, walking-on-air vibe is exactly what someone looks like right after incredible moments in bed with the person they love.

One of the things that upsets me the most is that most of the audience doesn’t recognize SydCarmy, and when they do, they try to downplay it. Watching the reactions to each episode and seeing people completely miss the clues really irritates me. Most critics saw the clues but didn’t even bother to comment on them, they just brushed them off that’s also Storer’s and his writers’ fault; they could have made some things more explicit, “holding hands” , “exchanged glances”, “more verbal communication”, that was taken away from us. We lost a lot of them because of that nonsense with Faks, Claire, famous friends, and a bunch of loose ends that weren’t tied up. We could have learned more about Mike, Syd’s mom (they didn’t even say her name), Tina, Ebrah… It seems like they rushed this episode out in a day so they wouldn’t have to explain the nonsense they made up. What makes me happy is that Carmy didn’t get back together with Claire! They weren’t an endgame couple, and they left her on the sidelines, she only appeared for 5 seconds in the last episode which makes me incredibly happy. The haters were completely shut down; no one expected him to reduce her to a background character

Chris Storer is responsibile for every final creative decision made for the bear good or bad. I dont' think Disney played a super big role in creative decisions made. He is a co-showrunner and wholly responsible for the people he brought to the show especially matty matheson. every plot point.

The fact that neither Jeremy nor Ayo used Cl@#$ as an excuse not to support SydCarmy…
They know people hate that character and it was never a reason not to see SydCarmy as a couple. I never heard either of them say 'No, he loves Cl@#$, she's the love of his life…' but they never said that, as far as I've heard and read, and Jeremy himself made a point of saying he 'rooted for everyone' instead of forcing the CC ship lol, who am I to disagree. …
@gueninha mentioned Carmy's expression that he just so happens to make again this very last episode, when he himself suggested he and Syd wait til after service to include everyone in their moment. He doesn't like to include people in their bond.
He suggests this at the lockers, and It's like 2x01 as he's at the locker where he should have taken a chance to get Sydney alone. It may be a callback for Carmy to take a chance again and make some private time with her before everyone else gets involved.
Subtly, this moment is a redo of season 2 and episodes Bolongese and Omelette, where they pass their fire suppression test and their hug is the closest out of everyone amongst celebration, and Carmy goes to celebrate with Claire when he should have taken off Sydney's clothes, held her, and made dinner for her after celebrating with everyone. I believe Rene Gube was a big part of writing this last season and the last two episodes of season 2?
The scene also fades to black, like when he celebrated with Claire, and the song that plays, "Throw Your Arms Around Me," in season 2 suggests that maybe Sydney and Carmy should have their own moment to celebrate, and it started with that hug. We end this season with a hug and fade to black as Carmy gets the alone time that gets so preciously interrupted by his family.
So that's the face he makes when he thinks I want alone time with Sydney.
Last thing, before he lets her walk away, they mention the need to stay focused at work even if they want to celebrate; last time he mentioned focusing was in Omlette, where afterwards he decides to set up the scene and table. He doesn't have a jacket to give her as a gesture this time, that's all I'm saying, and they may have had quite a few hours before people came in to work.

I can’t see clairecarmy as endgame…..unless the bear is going for a tragic ending
(A long tread. Also I’m not fully use to doing these so sorry if this is a mess. This is just a way for me to get out my feelings)
With how season 4 dragged out their relationship longer than it should’ve and it ended with the possibility of them opening back up, I understand why everyone is scared. At the same time it doesn’t make sense to me why the show would go out of its way to still make the “love interest” such an unlikeable person. And it’s not like the bear isn’t capable of making characters that are unlikable likable. I mean look at the way Richie and Tina are portrayed for example. With Claire though they continue to make her not just annoying but straight up mean towards Carmy. And this has been something present with her character since she was introduced in season 2. And look I’m not saying you can’t have terrible characters exist; but my problem with Claire is that she never called out for her behavior. Only praised by the people around her. The whole breakup between Claire and Carmy is mainly blamed on Carmy. And I agree, Carmy isn’t completely innocent. In my opinion Carmy is with Claire not because he loves her, but because Mikey wanted them together. I think Carmy is at fault for not being fully honest with her and even himself. But I can’t fully blame him when you have Claire also pushing the relationship. Even though carmy gives her a false number WHICH BASICALLY MEANS NO. My problem with how her character is written (at least as of right now) is that she has ZERO self awareness. She has to be the victim between her and Carmy. She can’t have any flaws to her. She has to be perfect, sweet, and innocent Claire Bear. And granted while I understand her feeling upset about the fridge incident; but Carmy wasn’t blaming her for anything but more so blame himself and his fuck ups (not just in the relationship with Claire but everything with Sydney and what he puts her through). Hell Carmy even tried calling her back to talk to her but she runs away crying to Richie, which ends up being the catalyst of Richie and Carmy’s fight. At some point during Claire and Carmy breakup, Claire runs into Tiffany and tells her that Carmy blames her for everything. WHICH IS NOT AT ALL WHAT HE SAID 🤦🏽
Not only that but there are also very unsettling scenes between Claire and Carmy. The whole panic attack goes out of its way to show Sydney as the peace and not Claire. You know Claire; who is described as being peace and whose name means clarity. Why would Chris go out of his way to show Claire being apart of the chaos? Why would they also go out of their way to make parallels between her and his mother Donna who’s been shown to be such a problem? Why would they have Claire downplay Carmy mental health during their argument? Why is all of their scenes together so dark (like you can’t see anything during their sex scene). Why would they have her make fun of his panic attacks towards the end of season 4 and then have her call back to “apologize” just to then tell him “go fetch my sweater I left in your house.” Like this is such a weird way to write your love interest who’s suppose to be “caring” and “peace”.
Season 2 whole plot was Carmy leaving Sydney when she needed him for Claire and Claire was fully enabling this behavior. If Carmy ends up with Claire, Carmy will be repeating the same mistakes he’s been making throughout the series. HE LEARNS NOTHING! Claire as a character doesn’t show any signs of change and never gets called out for the awful things she says. Claire has more of a negative impact on Carmy’s character than positive. Narrative wise it just doesn’t make any sense. Unless the series is going for an upsetting ending. A big part of the bear is generational trauma and how it affects families. Claire has very striking parallels to Donna. If Claire and Carmy are endgame they will be repeating the trauma that bleeds into the Berzatto family. Claire is not progression, she’s regression.
And let’s be honest, regardless of if sydcarmy is meant to be or not; SYDNEY IS CARMY’S PEACE NOT CLAIRE
